Role Description You'll be our Product Marketing Lead, building the product function from the ground up. Today our roadmap is driven by founders and engineers; you'll bring the product discipline, customer insight, and prioritization that turns a strong platform into a category-defining one. This is a hands-on, build-it-yourself role before it's a manage-a-team role. - Own product strategy and roadmap for the Xata platform end-to-end, from agentic developer workflows to our hosted and self-hosted offerings. - Establish the product function: the practices, rituals, and feedback loops that connect customers to what we ship. - Talk to developers, platform teams, and AI-native companies constantly, and translate what you learn into a sharp, opinionated roadmap. - Partner with our Backend (Data Plane & Control Plane) and Frontend teams to scope, prioritize, and ship, making the hard tradeoff calls and keeping the team focused. - Own product documentation by making sure our docs are clear, accurate, and a first-class part of the developer experience. - Define how we package, position, and price our capabilities around database branching, storage, replication, lifecycle management, and orchestration. - Drive adoption: turn our open-source projects (pgroll, pgstream, and others) and platform features into clear value for users and a healthy commercial motion. - Set and track the metrics that matter (activation, retention, expansion) and use them to steer decisions. - Work closely with the founders on company strategy, GTM, and positioning in the agent era. - Hire and grow the product team as the function scales. Qualifications - Highly self-directed and thrive in environments with a high degree of ownership. - +3 years of experience as a product leader for technical, developer-facing, or infrastructure products. - Deeply technical and credible with engineers, comfortable discussing databases, APIs, distributed systems, and developer workflows. - Track record of taking products from early traction to scale, and of making decisive prioritization calls with incomplete information. - Strong customer instincts: do the discovery work yourself and let evidence, not opinion, drive the roadmap. - Excellent written communication and the ability to work effectively, asynchronously, in a remote environment. - Comfortable being the first and only product person, building the function and not inheriting it. Requirements - Experience with AI agents, agentic workflows, or AI-native developer tooling. - Familiarity with developer tools, databases, or PostgreSQL-adjacent products. - Experience growing and leading a product team. - Background in open-source products or communities. - Experience with product-led growth and self-serve motions alongside sales-assisted ones. Benefits - Meaningful equity in a company defining a new category. - Competitive salary and a compensation package that reflects the role. - A real seat at the table: you'll shape company strategy and direction, not just the product roadmap. - 30 vacation days, plus local public holidays, and a culture that expects you to use them. - Comprehensive health insurance. - Remote-first, async-first: work where you do your best work. We keep meetings to a minimum. - Budget for a co-working space of your choice. - Learning budget for conferences, courses, and books. - Two company off-sites per year, with partners and children welcome.
We provide the technology and service so donors can focus on giving and organizations can focus on growth.
