Role Description Zayo is seeking a Network Engineer II - Optical to be responsible for designing, link engineering and implementing new success based capacity onto the existing DWDM network. The Network Engineer II - Optical is responsible for effectively communicating with internal order management personnel and various internal teams on the progress of the capacity fulfillment. Role Description Join Mutual of Omaha's Network Engineering team as a Senior Network Engineer. This is a high-impact, senior-level role that shapes the strategic direction of enterprise network infrastructure across our entire organization. You'll be one of the technical leaders on an 11-person team managing 700+ physical network devices across our Home Office campus, remote sites, and a brand new building we are actively building out from the ground up with next generation HPE Aruba technology. If you're an experienced network engineer who thinks like an architect, communicates clearly to business leaders, and is energized by driving innovation and mentoring peers, this is the role for you. Qualifications - Deep, hands-on experience in enterprise network engineering including routing, switching, load balancing, and network architecture at scale. - A strong engineering mindset. - Experience with or exposure to network automation like scripting, orchestration, or tooling that reduces manual configuration and improves operational efficiency. - Familiarity with major enterprise networking vendors: Cisco and/or HPE Aruba experience is strongly preferred; F5 and Infoblox familiarity is a plus. - Proven ability to set strategic and technical direction in a complex enterprise environment. - Excellent communication skills. - A collaborative, initiative driven work style. - Ability to work on-site in Omaha, NE. Requirements - Experience developing or leading network automation initiatives (Python, Ansible, REST APIs, or vendor-native automation tools). - Familiarity with Infoblox DDI (DNS, DHCP, IP address management). - Familiarity with Network Performance Monitoring (NPM tools) including Solarwinds, Gigamon and Allegro. - Experience managing network infrastructure in a large, distributed campus environment (1,000+ users, multiple buildings/sites). - Ability to challenge existing processes and champion continuous improvement—you get energized by making things better, not just keeping the lights on. - Experience contributing to or leading major infrastructure refresh projects, including end-of-life planning and budget development.
