Role Description This is a remote position. We are seeking a proactive and detail-driven SEO Specialist to join our growing digital marketing agency. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role suited to someone with agency experience who enjoys working directly on client accounts and taking ownership of SEO performance end to end. The successful candidate will be responsible for actively managing and optimising multiple client accounts, delivering SEO strategies, implementing recommendations, and reporting on results - not just coordinating or liaising. This role offers an excellent opportunity to deepen technical and strategic SEO skills within a fast-paced, innovative agency environment. ***Candidates currently running their own agency will not be considered*** Key Responsibilities - Client & Account Delivery - Take full ownership of a portfolio of SEO client accounts, from strategy through to execution and reporting. - Act as the day-to-day SEO lead on accounts by actively implementing SEO tasks, not just coordinating them. - Communicate directly with clients, explaining work completed, insights, and next steps clearly and confidently. - Manage timelines, deliverables, and priorities across multiple accounts to ensure consistent quality and performance. - Technical & On-Page SEO - Conduct in-depth keyword research to support content planning and on-page optimisation. - Optimise website pages, blog content, and landing pages to improve rankings and organic visibility. - Create, update, and optimise metadata including titles, meta descriptions, headings, internal linking, and image optimisation. - Manage and update content across content management systems, primarily WordPress. - Identify and resolve on-site SEO issues such as crawl errors, indexation problems, site speed, and technical SEO blockers. - Manage canonical tags, pagination, and hreflang attributes where applicable to avoid duplicate content and support international SEO. - Implement and maintain proper redirect management, including 301 redirects, identifying and resolving redirect chains and loops. - Manage and optimise robots.txt files and XML sitemaps, including crawl budget management for larger sites. - Audit and improve Core Web Vitals (LCP, INP, CLS) and Page Experience signals in line with Google's guidelines. - Conduct log file analysis to understand crawler behaviour and identify indexation inefficiencies. - Implement schema markup and structured data (JSON-LD) across relevant page types to enhance SERP appearances. - Support local SEO efforts including Google Business Profile optimisation, local citations, and NAP consistency where relevant to client accounts. - Tools & Data Analysis - Implement and monitor SEO activity using tools including: - Google Search Console - Google Analytics (GA4) - Google Tag Manager - SEMrush / Ahrefs - Screaming Frog - Looker Studio (Google Data Studio) for client reporting dashboards - Sitebulb or similar crawl analysis tools - Analyse performance data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement. - Produce clear, actionable SEO reports that demonstrate progress, outcomes, and ROI. - Set up and configure GA4 events, goals, and conversion tracking to accurately measure SEO-driven performance. - Utilise AI-assisted SEO workflows and tools to improve efficiency and output quality, while maintaining accuracy and judgement. - Off-Page SEO & Authority Building - Actively support and execute link acquisition strategies through outreach, content promotion, and digital PR. - Conduct competitor backlink analysis and identify link-building opportunities. - Assess link quality and ensure backlink profiles align with best practices and avoid toxic links. - Support efforts to build topical authority and strengthen E-E-A-T signals. - Conduct content gap analysis to identify missing topical coverage and inform link-worthy content creation. - Monitor and manage brand mentions and unlinked citations as part of wider authority-building activity. - Collaboration & Best Practice - Work closely with content writers, designers, and developers to ensure SEO best practices are implemented correctly. - Stay up to date with algorithm updates, SEO trends, and industry developments. - Proactively suggest improvements to processes, workflows, and client strategies. - Brief and quality-check content produced by writers to ensure it meets SEO requirements, including keyword usage, structure, and E-E-A-T alignment. Qualifications - Proven experience working as an SEO Executive or similar role within an agency environment. - Strong hands-on experience implementing SEO strategies across multiple client accounts. - Solid understanding of technical SEO fundamentals, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript basics. - Proficiency in WordPress and familiarity with other CMS platforms. - Experience using Google Search Console, Google Analytics (GA4), and tools such as Screaming Frog, SEMrush, or Ahrefs. - Knowledge of schema markup, structured data, XML sitemaps, and indexation best practices. - Understanding of E-E-A-T principles and how to build topical authority. - Experience with backlink acquisition, competitor analysis, and link quality assessment. - Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail. - Confident communicator, comfortable explaining SEO work and results to clients. - Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced agency environment. - Agency experience is essential. - Working knowledge of canonicalisation, hreflang, redirect management, and crawl budget optimisation. - Familiarity with Core Web Vitals, Page Experience signals, and basic performance optimisation techniques. - Experience producing client-facing dashboards and reports, ideally using Looker Studio. - Understanding of local SEO principles including Google Business Profile and local citation management. - Comfortable using AI-assisted tools to support and enhance SEO workflows. Hardware Requirements - Computer or laptop with stable performance. - Reliable ADSL/Fibre internet connection (minimum 100 Mbps). - Headset compatible with VOIP systems. - Anti-virus software installed. - UPS or backup power solution for load shedding.
