Key Responsibilities: As a Senior Staff Representative in Quality Assurance (On-Wing Maintenance Surveillance), you will be vital in maintaining safety, compliance, and operational excellence across United's Technical Operations and vendor network. This position requires leading audits, investigations, and surveillance to ensure alignment with FAA regulations and our internal Continuing Analysis and Surveillance System (CASS). You will collaborate cross-functionally to identify risks, resolve non-compliance issues, and implement continuous improvement initiatives within On-Wing Maintenance and related functions. With 40-50% travel, this role significantly impacts our global maintenance operations while serving as a key liaison with regulatory bodies and industry partners. Responsibilities Include: - Conduct internal and external audits and compliance assessments - Investigate non-compliance events, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions - Prepare and present audit reports and findings to senior leadership - Provide regulatory guidance to cross-functional teams - Represent United at FAA and industry meetings, supporting continuous improvement initiatives - Assist with voluntary self-disclosures and FAA Letters of Investigation - Travel 40-50% to domestic and international sites for on-site quality oversight Note: This is a remote position with a 50% travel requirement. While the role is fully remote, we prefer candidates based near one of our hub locations: San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Denver, Newark, or Washington D.C. (IAD) Qualifications What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications): - Bachelor's degree in aviation, engineering, technology or related work or military experience - Two years experience in aviation, preferably in aircraft maintenance inspection, engineering, and/or quality assurance - Working knowledge of pertinent Code of Federal Regulations and Company Manuals / Requirements - Familiar with engineering documents, drawings, AMM's, IPCs, and WDMs - Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and demonstrated experience learning Company-specific platforms - Ability to analyze data and processes to identify opportunities for improvement; strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills - Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship - Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification - Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications): - American Society of Quality or Six Sigma Green Belt certification; FAA Airframe or Powerplant License - Three years experience in aviation, preferably in aircraft maintenance inspection, engineering, and/or quality assurance; experience in engineering and/or quality assurance auditing and risk assessment skills; experience writing policies and procedures - Knowledge of data analysis and visualization software (i.e., Palantir, Spotfire, and/or SQL) - Knowledge of process mapping, measurement and improvement techniques The base pay range for this role is $89,965.00 to $117,212.00. The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards. Role Description The NDT Specialist is responsible for conducting or directing critical inspections and providing accurate and concise interpretation of results on gas or steam turbine generators utilizing manual or advanced NDT inspection systems.
