You’ll get to: - Utilize CAE simulation technologies to support product development. - Translate product design requirements into simulation project specifications, employing appropriate simulation techniques to ensure quality and performance. - Conduct simulation in the areas of System Level Modeling, Multi-Body Dynamics (MBD), Design Optimization, Co-Simulation, Multi-Physics Simulation, and Fatigue Life Prediction. - Verify simulation results with theoretical methods and test data. Collaborate with internal test labs to conduct prototype evaluation. - Analyze simulation results to inform sound design and business decisions in complex technical situations. - Develop in-house software tools for new product development team to facilitate the product design process and achieve design optimization. - Participate in design review meetings at early product development stage to assess design and manufacturing risks and provide design guidelines. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve optimal product development solutions. - Study the fundamental physics behind products using CAE and other analytical tools. - Continuously developing new methods and processes in CAE field to enhance simulation capability, efficiency, and accuracy. - Manage and deliver multiple projects with increasing technical complexity. - Work effectively in a fast-paced team environment, communicating efficiently with cross-functional teams. You also have: - MS in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related field) with 5-7 years of work experience -or- Ph’D in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related field) with 3-5 years of work experience. - Experience modeling physical systems using either commercial CAE software tools (MSC ADAMS, ANSYS Motion, etc) or with programming languages (MATLAB, Python, C/C++) is required. - Experience in one or more of the following areas is required: system level modeling, mechanism simulation, dynamic simulation, vibration modeling, design optimization, system identification, data analysis. - Transmission design and analysis experience (Romax, Masta, KiSSsoft) is desired. - Experience with 3D CAD system required. CATIA experience preferred. - Ability to verify simulation results using sound engineering principles. Experience in designing and executing validation tests to verify analytical models and calibrate results with empirical data is preferred. - Understanding of mass production manufacturing methods, such as die casting, plastic injection molding, and forging. - Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a cross-functional team environment. - Ability to manage 5-10 projects simultaneously and flexibility to adjust project priorities based on current business needs. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail. - Ability to generate and evaluate creative ideas. - Excellent technical documentation skills and strong written and verbal communication abilities. Preferred Skillsets: - 10+ years of hands-on experience in MBD modeling within the consumer products industry. - Experience in MBD modeling specifically for power tools. - Expertise in MBD modeling software, particularly with Ansys Motion. - Experience in Structural FEA, such as static simulation and impact simulation. - Experience in CFD, such as airflow, thermal, and particles simulation. - Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or MATLAB. - Experience in CAE automation and AI applications. - Experience in designing and executing validation tests to verify analytical models, calibrate results with empirical data, data acquisition, and data analysis. What to Expect- Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the Habitat Environmental Engineer will, Provide Technical Assistance: - Serve as the Department’s Habitat engineering representative for Region 1, Eastern Washington. - Act as a registered Professional Engineer to review, approve, and provide final engineering designs and decisions on a diversity of fish passage, fish screening, fish habitat restoration, and water crossing structure projects. - Evaluate and recommend approval or disapproval of plans, proposals, and designs for fish passage, screening, water crossing, bank protection, erosion control, fish habitat enhancement and restoration, flood hazard reduction, and other instream projects. - Prepare professional engineering designs and permit documents for fish passage (e.g., fish ladders, fishways roughened channels, grade control weirs), erosion control, bank protection, gravity and pump fish screening for various fish species and life history stages, and habitat restoration projects. - Serve as a liaison with agency staff, state and federal agencies, and local governments to resolve complex engineering issues; provide expert testimony as needed. - Offer technical assistance for designs of proposals for work affecting fish and wildlife habitats. - Negotiate for plan, project and/or design specifications.
