Role Description
As a Senior Epic Client System Administrator, your work at Tegria will focus on providing advanced technical leadership in the design, deployment, optimization, and support of Epic client systems across a multi-client shared services environment. This role serves as a subject matter expert in Epic Hyperspace architecture, client-side performance, printing infrastructure, and enterprise deployment strategies. The Sr. ECSA leads complex troubleshooting, establishes technical standards, mentors junior staff, and collaborates with application, hosting, networking, and security teams to ensure highly reliable, secure, and scalable Epic environments for consulting clients. The role also contributes to strategic planning, automation initiatives, and continuous improvement of shared services operations.

Lead installation, configuration, optimization, and lifecycle management of Epic Hyperspace, client software, print services, and supporting components across all environments.

Architect and maintain standardized deployment models for multi-client environments, including workstation packages, server-based deployments, virtualization, and application delivery tools.

Lead advanced troubleshooting of performance issues, latency, crashes, caching failures, certificate problems, and integration challenges across shared infrastructure.

Manage high-complexity print infrastructure, including advanced print routing, print servers, device mapping automation, and large-scale print environment upgrades.

Partner with hosting, network, and application teams to design and maintain high-performing environments, proactively identifying systemic issues and improvement opportunities.

Serve as a technical lead during Epic upgrades, version changes, environment refreshes, and client onboarding efforts.

Establish documentation, templates, and standard operating procedures for deployments, configurations, and shared services workflows.

Develop automation and scripting solutions (e.g., PowerShell) to streamline packaging, deployment, monitoring, and configuration management.

Participate in or lead root cause analysis sessions; communicate findings and remediation plans to internal and client leadership.

Provide advanced guidance for access provisioning, environment security settings, and compliance with HITRUST and HIPAA controls.

Mentor and support the development of junior EC SAs and technical analysts.

Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation and respond to high-priority incidents requiring senior-level expertise.

Contribute to technology roadmaps, scalability planning, and continuous improvement of shared Epic infrastructure.

Perform other generally related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Health Information Systems, or a related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.

At least two Epic ECSA certifications.

Additional Epic module certifications (e.g., Hyperspace configuration, technical services) preferred.

IT certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or Microsoft certifications desirable.

Typically, 5+ years of technical support, system administration, or healthcare IT experience, including:

At least 4 years of ECSA experience in a healthcare or consulting environment.
-
At least two implementations or upgrades of Epic Client Systems.

Monitoring, tuning, and administration of Windows servers.
-
Citrix XenApp, VMWare Horizon or other virtualization platform administration OR one or more load balancing technologies.
-
Experience in an enterprise environment, shared services model, or multi-client support preferred.

Fully proficient in industry practices, techniques, and standards, including:

Understanding of Epic environments (PRD, POC, SUP, REL) and upgrade cycles.

Understanding of Epic Hyperspace architecture, presentation layer, and deployment models, Windows server print services, and Epic print workflows.

Windows workstation and server administration, Group Policy, and application packaging.

Scripting (PERL, PowerShell, etc.).
-
Citrix, VMware, or other virtualization technologies used for Epic delivery.

Understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, and VPN connectivity.

Understanding of HITRUST, HIPAA, and security best practices in healthcare environments.

W2 project-based consultants will be expected to provide a computing device that adheres to industry standards and security best practices to use in satisfying the Project Services on behalf of Tegria.
