Role Description
The Career Coach position is a full-time, twelve-month staff member who trains students and alumni on methods for leveraging their education and experience to achieve vocational goals, excelling in the workplace as Champions for Christ. An industry-specific Career Coach assesses experiences and skills, understands career goals, and collaborates across campus to create and implement career development strategies.

Provide personalized services to empower success and help students and alumni reach their goals.

Collaborate with the coaching team and employer relations team to provide specialized workshops and personalized career coaching.

Develop relationships between Career Services and other academic departments.

Develop and implement development programs and resources to support career and professional development.

Coach diverse audiences on career-related information.

Communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with students, alumni, faculty, staff, employers, and community partners.

Provide engaging presentations and coaching sessions in various forums, including classrooms, club meetings, workshops, events, and one-on-one sessions.

Monitor and track coaching interactions to evaluate effectiveness and continuously improve services.

Collaborate with Career Services staff to plan and execute career fairs, employer informational sessions, and similar career-related activities.

Mentor and train Career Services staff on specific topical elements as directed.

Exhibit networking and professionalism skills to students and alumni.

Agree to the use of personal photo and video in career coaching activities and events.

Strictly adhere to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.

Work effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s Christian model and Mission – Training Champions for Christ.

Provide Group Coaching to Students and Alumni.

Develop new and edit existing engaging group presentations on core elements related to methods to leverage education and experience to achieve vocational goals.

Think critically and creatively, using knowledge, facts, and data to inform presentations and workshop materials.

Organize, schedule, and facilitate a seamless presentation and workshop schedule.

Utilize professional experience to serve as the primary Career Coach for students pursuing careers in a specific industry.

Provide industry-specific information to students and alumni as directed by the Assistant Director of Career Coaching.

Compile research and resources on related career fields to provide expert career information to students/alumni.

Build collaborative working relationships with the dean, faculty, and staff.

Evaluate students using coaching sessions and career assessments to assist students in understanding strengths, values, interests, and characteristics.

Train students on employability skills and networking techniques.

Guide students to create tailored and effective resumes and cover letters for internship, job, and grad school/PhD applications.

Conduct professional and creative mock interviews to prepare students/alumni for successful interviews.
Qualifications

Minimum - Bachelor's degree in engineering or IT/CS/Cyber or a related field and 3+ years of further education in engineering or IT/CS/Cyber or a related field experience.

Preferred - Bachelor's degree in engineering or IT/CS/Cyber or a related field and 5+ years of further education and/or engineering, IT/CS/Cyber, or related field experience.

Proven expertise in engineering or IT/CS/Cyber or a related field.

Broad knowledge of career opportunities with an emphasis on current trends in career development, employment resources, and career opportunities.

Experience in successful coaching or mentoring.

Pay Range: $46,000.00 - $55,000.00.
