Role Description
This is a professional and highly technical position responsible for maintaining, upgrading, and managing server infrastructure, software, hardware, and networks.
The Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for:

Maintaining, upgrading, and managing core server infrastructure, software, hardware, and networks.

Diagnosing and resolving problems quickly.

Communicating with a variety of interdisciplinary teams and users.

Ensuring that technology infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently.
-
Collaborating with firewall, security, and network systems.
Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Enterprise Infrastructure Manager.
Examples of Duties
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Install new/rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with industry standards and project/operational requirements.

Oversee the administration, configuration, security, and lifecycle management of the organization’s Microsoft 365 environment to ensure reliability, compliance, and optimized user productivity.

Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs.

Monitor daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate location and are recoverable.

Repair and recover from hardware or software failures.
-
Perform Networking and Server Troubleshooting.

Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis and upgrade administrative tools and utilities.

Configure/add new services as necessary.

Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
-
Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies to develop, maintain, and test DR plans to ensure compliance with the Department’s DR plan.

Research and recommend innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for system administration tasks.

Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
-
Contribute to and maintain system standards.

On-Call rotation with other Infrastructure team members which includes after hours, weekends, and holidays.

Perform other duties as required or requested.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field and three years of related experience; OR
-
Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field and five years of related experience; OR
-
High School Diploma with seven years of related experience.
Requirements

Knowledge of industry standards, methods, best practices, and procedures related to server, user, mail, disaster recovery, security, and storage administration.

Knowledge of project management techniques, planning, and resource deployment.
-
Knowledge and experience managing cybersecurity initiatives by implementing best-practice security controls.

Ability to work closely with and provide guidance to other infrastructure staff.
-
Ability to fully manage Microsoft Office 365, Teams and Azure.
-
Ability to manage servers within a hyperconverged architecture.
-
Ability to manage services and protocols on servers like DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, FTP, SSL, etc.
-
Ability to perform technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure.

Ability to provide advice and recommendations involving rather complex issues.

Ability to analyze and resolve problems using logical thought processes.

Ability to work well under pressure and independently.

Ability to multi-task and work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Ability to establish and maintain good intra departmental and interdepartmental working relationships.
