Overview: Calibrant Energy is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to join a collaborative and growing finance team supporting a multi-entity, technically complex business operating at the center of the energy transition. This role is ideal for someone with a strong accounting foundation who enjoys problem solving, navigating complexity, and building scalable accounting processes. This role will play a critical part in the monthly close process, financial reporting and will be instrumental in preparing for and supporting external audits. The ideal candidate has a strong technical foundation, enjoys solving complex accounting issues, and is comfortable operating in an environment where accuracy, documentation, and judgment matter. Key Responsibilities: Month-End Close & Core Accounting · Prepare and post recurring and non-recurring journal entries · Perform monthly reconciliations of balance sheet and material P&L accounts · Maintain organized, audit-ready supporting schedules for all accounts · Perform weekly bank reconciliations and settlements · Assist with consolidation and multi-entity reporting Audit Preparation & Compliance · Lead preparation of audit schedules and supporting documentation for external auditors · Coordinate audit requests and manage PBC (Provided by Client) lists · Ensure timely and accurate responses to audit inquiries · Maintain documentation in accordance with IFRS and GAAP requirements · Support implementation and documentation of internal controls · Partner with Accounting Manager / Controller on technical accounting research and memos Accounting Process & Technical Support · Assist in maintaining and improving accounting policies and procedures · Ensure consistent accounting recognition across entities, including tax equity partnerships where applicable · Coordinate with outsourced project accountants to ensure clean, timely deliverables · Support ad hoc accounting analysis and special projects
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience
- Public accounting experience strongly preferred, particularly experience supporting financial statement audits
- Solid understanding of financial statements and technical accounting concepts
- Experience preparing audit schedules and working directly with auditors
- High proficiency in Excel
- CPA or CPA-track preferred
