The Finance Manager will provide strong technical finance leadership, ensure the integrity of our financial reporting, and mentor the Junior Financial Analyst and Administrator — all while keeping the CFO informed and supported with clear, accurate information. This is an ideal role for a seasoned finance professional who thrives in a collaborative environment, is comfortable being the most technically proficient finance person on the team, and takes pride in building reliable processes. This is an active role, with a preference for onsite work in Richmond Hill, ON, though remote candidates based in Canada may also be considered. Key Responsibilities - Financial Operations & Reporting - Own the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements. - Prepare and review management accounts, variance analyses, and financial reports for the CFO and senior leadership. - Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and chart of accounts within Sage Intacct. - Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash flow management, and bank reconciliations. - Manage payroll processing coordination and ensure compliance with payroll obligations. - Ensure compliance with all relevant tax filings, regulatory requirements, and statutory deadlines. - CFO Partnership - Act as a trusted right hand to the CFO, translating financial data into clear insights and recommendations. - Prepare materials and briefings that enable the CFO to make well-informed decisions. - Flag risks, discrepancies, or issues proactively, providing context and proposed solutions. - Support budgeting and forecasting cycles, working closely with the CFO on assumptions and outputs. - Junior Financial Analyst and Administrator Management - Directly manage, mentor, and develop the Junior Financial Analyst and Administrator, providing day-to-day guidance and quality review. - Set clear priorities, review work for accuracy, and ensure the Junior Financial Analyst and Administrator has the tools and knowledge to succeed. - Serve as the primary escalation point for the Junior Financial Analyst and Administrator on complex transactions or accounting questions. - Build and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for key finance processes. - Systems & Process Improvement - Serve as the primary power user and administrator of Sage Intacct. - Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy across the finance function. - Collaborate with Technology team to implement system enhancements on Sage Intacct, Salesforce, and other systems relevant to Finance workflows. - Ensure financial controls are in place and adhered to across the team. - Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and advisors as needed. Qualifications - 5+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or managerial role. - CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional designation (or actively working toward completion). - Demonstrated experience with Sage Intacct (or similar ERP) — hands-on and confident in using it day-to-day. - Strong technical accounting knowledge. - Proven ability to manage and develop direct reports. - Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. - Strong communication skills — able to translate financial complexity into plain language for non-finance stakeholders. Nice to Have - Experience working in a mid-sized business environment where you wore multiple hats. - Familiarity with setting up or optimizing Sage Intacct workflows, dimensions, or reporting. - Experience supporting a CFO or executive leadership team directly. - Background in Technology or Professional Services Industry.
