Role Description We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Finance Manager to join our team and serve as the operational backbone of our finance function. Sitting between the CFO and our Junior Financial Analyst and Administrator, this role is central to the day-to-day running of our financial operations. The Finance Manager will provide strong technical finance leadership, ensure the integrity of our financial reporting, and mentor the Junior Financial Analyst and Administrator — all while keeping the CFO informed and supported with clear, accurate information. This is an ideal role for a seasoned finance professional who thrives in a collaborative environment, is comfortable being the most technically proficient finance person on the team, and takes pride in building reliable processes. This is an active role, with a preference for onsite work in Richmond Hill, ON, though remote candidates based in Canada may also be considered. Key Responsibilities - Financial Operations & Reporting - Own the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements. - Prepare and review management accounts, variance analyses, and financial reports for the CFO and senior leadership. - Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and chart of accounts within Sage Intacct. - Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash flow management, and bank reconciliations. - Manage payroll processing coordination and ensure compliance with payroll obligations. - Ensure compliance with all relevant tax filings, regulatory requirements, and statutory deadlines. - CFO Partnership - Act as a trusted right hand to the CFO, translating financial data into clear insights and recommendations. - Prepare materials and briefings that enable the CFO to make well-informed decisions. - Flag risks, discrepancies, or issues proactively, providing context and proposed solutions. - Support budgeting and forecasting cycles, working closely with the CFO on assumptions and outputs. - Junior Financial Analyst and Administrator Management - Directly manage, mentor, and develop the Junior Financial Analyst and Administrator, providing day-to-day guidance and quality review. - Set clear priorities, review work for accuracy, and ensure the Junior Financial Analyst and Administrator has the tools and knowledge to succeed. - Serve as the primary escalation point for the Junior Financial Analyst and Administrator on complex transactions or accounting questions. - Build and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for key finance processes. - Systems & Process Improvement - Serve as the primary power user and administrator of Sage Intacct. - Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy across the finance function. - Collaborate with Technology team to implement system enhancements on Sage Intacct, Salesforce, and other systems relevant to Finance workflows. - Ensure financial controls are in place and adhered to across the team. - Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and advisors as needed. Qualifications - 5+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or managerial role. - CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional designation (or actively working toward completion). - Demonstrated experience with Sage Intacct (or similar ERP) — hands-on and confident in using it day-to-day. - Strong technical accounting knowledge. - Proven ability to manage and develop direct reports. - Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. - Strong communication skills — able to translate financial complexity into plain language for non-finance stakeholders. Nice to Have - Experience working in a mid-sized business environment where you wore multiple hats. - Familiarity with setting up or optimizing Sage Intacct workflows, dimensions, or reporting. - Experience supporting a CFO or executive leadership team directly. - Background in Technology or Professional Services Industry.
