Job Description
Staff Systems Engineer
Beacon Software
Role Description You'll build and operate the foundational systems stack that runs Beacon and its portfolio. This is a hands-on role on a small, flat team. You'll co-design the architecture and help build it: identity, endpoint, access, write the automation, ship the integration. You're a builder who happens to think like an architect, and you're energized by being close to the systems rather than one layer removed from them. Key Responsibilities - Help build the foundational systems from the ground up. - Shape and mature the core stack: identity, endpoint management, permissioning and access architecture, networking, corporate security, and the SaaS layer. - Own architecture and execution, not handing off to someone else to implement. - Automate the integrations by stitching together HRIS, identity, finance, CRM, ticketing, and the rest of the stack. - Design durable integration patterns (event-driven, webhook-based, API-first), write the glue code, and ensure systems communicate reliably. - Get creative with solutioning using the right technology for the problem. - Partner with the Senior TPM and the Integrations team during portfolio company acquisitions. - Co-write runbooks, architecture decision records, and documentation that outlast any single person on the team. - Establish standards that portfolio companies can adopt to make future integrations faster. Qualifications - 10+ years building and operating corporate engineering, IT, or systems infrastructure at growth-stage or multi-entity companies. - Deep hands-on experience with identity, SSO, SCIM, MFA, and modern access architecture. - Experience owning MDM, endpoint security, and device lifecycle (macOS primary, Windows secondary). - Comfort writing code: scripting, automation, infrastructure-as-code, API integrations. - Track record of building things that others can operate; documentation and standards are part of the job. - Comfort operating without process; ability to create structure in ambiguous environments. - Bias for action; preference for shipping over scheduling meetings. Bonus Points - M&A or multi-entity integration experience. - Hands-on with SOC 2, ISO 27001, or SOX ITGC programs. - AI-native workflow experience used in real production. Our Values at Beacon Software - Humility: Acknowledge that the path to the right answer involves being wrong along the way. - Honesty: Truth-seeking in our approach to business problems; trust is earned over a lifetime. - Hunger: Play to win; hold ourselves to high standards and take pride in our responsibilities. - Horizon: Seek to build a generational software company, managing expectations for compounding growth. How We Use AI in Our Hiring Process To ensure transparency, we want candidates to know that Beacon Software uses Artificial Intelligence and AI-enabled tools to assist with screening, reviewing, organizing, and highlighting profiles and applications that match the key requirements for each role. AI does not make hiring decisions; every application is reviewed by a member of our team, and all decisions throughout the process are made by humans.
