QA Engineer Application Deadline: 31 May 2026 Department: Technology Employment Type: Full Time Location: Head Office Compensation: $65,000 - $71,000 / year Description About the Team This role is a key member of Embark’s Technology and reports directly into Embark’s QA Manager. The QA Engineer is responsible for: - Designing and executing test strategies - Ensuring product and process quality - Identifying defects and driving corrective actions - Supporting continuous improvement initiatives In this role you will be responsible for: - Perform Web UI, and API testing to validate functionality, performance, and system reliability. - Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using tools such as Selenium, TestNG, Cypress and Playwright. - Write, maintain, and enhance automation code using JavaScript and TypeScript, including reusable components and test utilities. - Execute automated tests, report results, and log defects within Azure Boards. - Support release testing cycles and perform manual testing when necessary. - Develop and maintain automation tools, performing both enhancements and bug fixes. - Design and implement end-to-end automation solutions across various business domains using AI, workflows, and orchestration tools. - Create automation test case solutions leveraging AI-based tools. - Help establish and refine nightly and build-triggered regression workflows as part of CI/CD adoption. - Work with CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins or Azure DevOps. - Collaborate closely with development teams to understand technical requirements, system architecture, and project goals. - Work with cross-functional teams to automate integration testing. - Contribute to the continuous improvement of automation processes, tools, and testing methodologies. - Participate in Agile ceremonies, including Daily Scrums, Refinements, Sprint Planning, Demos, and Retrospectives. Communicate summaries and conclusions drawn from data in clear and concise ways, visually and verbally. - Translate data analytics into language understood by engineers and data analysts, both in the practitioner and research space - Participation in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Environmental/Chemical/Mechanical Engineering; preference given to those with advanced technical degrees or training. - Minimum of 3 years of experience in water, sewer or stormwater modelling. - Hydraulic modeling software for drinking water networks (EPANET or similar) and (or) stormwater networks (SWMM or similar). - Previous experience programming in software languages such as Python, R, C, MATLAB, etc. - Experience with modern data science workflows for data access and filtering, geospatial analysis, and model parameter estimation. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Self-motivated, resourceful, and eager to develop new skills. - A creative mind and hands-on problem-solving abilities. - Fluent in English. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Knowledge of data management modeling tools. - Working knowledge of Agile Methodology and Jira. - Practical knowledge of modern data science methods for hydraulic and model development. - Previous practical experience working in a water utility, organization, or setting. The estimated salary range for this position is $100k - $135k CAD plus bonus.   Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.
