The internship position within the Corporate Finance and Accounting department of The Standard involves a wide range of duties and activities. The goal of an internship in accounting is to apply knowledge acquired in the classroom to real-world situations, as well as gain the skills and experience that is necessary to prepare the student for a successful career in the finance or accounting fields. Activities for the internship position within the Corporate Finance and Accounting department of The Standard include: - Assistance with financial close and reporting - Accounting policy research - Account reconciliations - Review and validation of analytical models - Updates to accounting memos to support key positions - Peer company analysis - Process improvement projects - Observation and meeting with executive leadership - Other duties as assigned. During the duration of the internship the candidate will be assigned to one manager to oversee their day-to-day work, however, there may be opportunities to work with several different teams in the division.
