Role Description Our client, a California-exclusive workers' compensation defense firm, is seeking Workers' Compensation Defense Attorneys to join their growing team. - Represent employers and insurers in all aspects of workers compensation defense before the Workers Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB), including hearings, conferences, and trials. - Manage a full caseload and drive claims toward efficient, favorable outcomes. - Take and defend depositions, including medical depositions when applicable. - Draft and argue motions and prepare legal filings under California workers' compensation law. - Negotiate settlements and resolve claims strategically. - Conduct legal research related to workers' compensation statutes and case law. - Maintain regular communication with adjusters and clients regarding case strategy and status. Qualifications - 2–10 years of California workers' compensation defense experience, with at least 1.5 years of dedicated experience representing employers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators. - Juris Doctor from an accredited law school. - Active license with the California State Bar. - Experience handling depositions. - Comfortable working in a paperless practice environment with dictation software. - Experience collaborating with legal assistants and team members. - Experience handling doctor depositions is a strong plus. - Trial experience as first or second chair is a plus. - High billable hours in legal practice are a plus. - Experience in client-facing legal work is a plus.
