Senior HR Generalist

Role Description We are looking for a passionate and driven Senior HR Generalist to join our European HR team as we look to create a team member-centric People organization across our remote-first European entities. The person in this role will handle various employee and organization-related tasks, with primary focus on Germany. You will provide support and back-up to the Lead HR Advisor and collaborate closely with HR functional experts (Compensation, Benefits, HR Business Partners) and internal partners like Legal, Compliance, and Payroll. Crucially, our team is working on incorporating more automated processes, and this role will help craft the future of our HR space. We are looking for an innovative mind who strives to stay ahead of the game by educating themselves on current advancements in automation and process scaling. By driving these efficiencies, you will help us reclaim time so we can serve our team members better and with higher quality. What You Will Do - Employee Relations & Compliance: - Act as the first point of contact for team members, answering queries regarding HR policies, benefits, and labor law issues. - Provide advice and guidance to line management on employee-related matters and remote performance management best practices. - Proactively identify employee relations trends or themes and leverage data to tell the story. - Recommend, draft, and maintain HR policies. - Take a proactive approach to addressing compliance or regulatory concerns and assist in implementing legal changes. - HR Operations & Administration (incl. Payroll collaboration): - Manage and maintain employee files (digitally and physically) in strict compliance with German labor law (employment contracts, amendment agreements, and exit documentation etc.). - Drive the onboarding process for new hires and lead the offboarding process in collaboration with global HR Business Partners. - Prepare payroll-related data, track absences (sick leave, vacation), manage governmental applications, and collaborate with the Payroll team to ensure accurate and timely monthly data submission. - Innovation & Process Automation: - Establish and maintain reporting and metrics to analyze topics like sickness data, supporting decision-making. - Support the further development of HR processes (benefits, professional development, work schedule models). - Leverage your innovative mindset to find new ways to automate and scale HR operations, driving proactive team member communication to enhance the overall employee experience. Qualifications - Bachelor's or Master’s degree with a focus in Human Resources, Psychology, or a related field, alongside 3-5+ years of professional working experience (preferably as an HR Generalist, or in Employee Relations and HR administration). - A structured, solution-oriented approach with the ability to manage multiple processes independently. - Previous working experience in the application of German employment law and HR compliance. - Previous working experience in a multinational, matrixed organization. - Demonstrated ability to advise and coach managers in a variety of complex situations, exercising sound judgment while balancing organizational needs and risk. - Ability to establish trust and credibility, handling confidential personal data in a highly discreet, mature, and professional manner. - Fluent in both English and German (native-level German preferred). Nice to Have - Previous experience in an operations-type of environment, ideally in customer service centers, with an agile mindset. - A highly collaborative approach to building rapport and managing collaborators. - Previous experience with HRIS systems (e.g., SuccessFactors) and proficiency with GoogleSuite programs, and/or collaboration tools such as Confluence and Slack. - Genuine enthusiasm for HR topics, improving processes, and contributing directly to team member satisfaction. - Enjoyment of working in a structured yet dynamic environment with new challenges, especially regarding new technological advancements in HR. - Fluency in any other European language.
