Senior Field Application Engineer

Digi International

• Understand customer business and application requirements; provide pre-sales technical and design support with prospective customers and partners over the phone, via email, and in person • Design and develop proof-of-concept applications to demonstrate product capabilities • Build and deploy containerised applications on Digi devices using the Digi Remote Manager and LXC • Act as liaison between the Sales Team and Engineering, Technical Support, Product Marketing, and Product Management • Provide customer training programmes and technical sales presentations as required • Set up, test, and replicate customer hardware, software, networking, and application issues in a lab environment • Develop and maintain strong technical relationships with customer and partner contacts

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technology discipline, or 4–6 years of equivalent relevant experience
  • Solid, hands-on Linux skills
  • Strong knowledge of networking LAN/WAN principles, topologies, and protocols
  • Practical experience with cellular connectivity (4G LTE and 5G), including concepts such as SIM management, signal diagnostics, carrier failover, and WAN bonding
  • Familiarity with serial protocols (RS-232/485, Modbus or similar)
  • Experience developing or scripting applications — Python, shell scripting, or similar
  • Understanding of containerisation technologies (Docker, LXC, or equivalent)
  • Strong communication and presentation skills in both English and German
  • Valid driving licence and willingness to travel across the EMEA region
