Job Description
Director, Product Marketing
1Password
• own the go-to-market strategy for 1Password's core product portfolio: Enterprise Password Manager, SaaS Manager, and Device Trust. • direct management of a team of product marketers covering core products. • set clear expectations, manage performance without avoidance, and build a team that does sharp work and gives honest feedback. • coach each PMM to do better work: clearer thinking, stronger writing, more effective in front of stakeholders. • own messaging, positioning, and launch strategy for EPM, SaaS Manager, and Device Trust. • define the market narrative that reframes 1Password’s core products in the age of AI and automation. • provide clear, confident answers to AEs and SEs on why 1Password wins. • influence product strategy by serving as the voice of the market to Product: bring customer evidence, analyst intelligence, competitive signals, and field feedback. • manage key deliverables like messaging, positioning, and launch strategy.
Job Requirements
- 10+ years of B2B SaaS product marketing experience, with strong depth in identity security, credentials management, or access governance.
- Hands-on experience positioning AI-adjacent or AI-native security solutions.
- A working understanding of how identity security needs to evolve to support developers and AI builders.
- Able to market technically complex products to different audiences — IT leaders, security engineers, CISOs — without losing coherence across them.
- A track record in competitive markets where winning required unseating incumbents or reframing a category, not just occupying one.
- You understand how AI agents are reshaping identity and access security requirements.
- Working knowledge of developer toolchains — IDEs, GitHub Actions, CI/CD platforms — and the secrets management patterns that surround them.
- You use AI to go faster, not to think less. You know what to hand off and what to own, and you can tell good output from output that still needs work.
- You want AI to free up time for the work only a good product marketer can do: strategy, judgment, and narrative.
- You own the ideas you bring, regardless of how you made them. Walk into a room with a recommendation and you can defend it. Candidates who produce content but can’t explain the thinking behind it won’t fit here.
- You write for multiple audiences without diluting the message. A CISO and a platform engineer aren’t reading the same document for the same reason — you know how to serve both.
- Strong narrative instincts: open with the problem, build to the solution, and leave the reader feeling like the product was built for their situation.
- You’ve shaped category narratives, not just contributed to them.
- 3+ years managing PMMs directly, with clear examples of people you’ve developed and grown.
- You know how to make a good PMM better: cleaner thinking, stronger writing, more effective in a room.
- You’ve hired well. You know what strong looks like at each level and you build toward it.
- You give your team clarity on priorities, ownership, and why their work matters.
Benefits
- immediate participation in 1Password's benefits program (health, dental, 401k and many others)
- utilization of our generous paid time off
- an equity grant
