Role Description The College Admissions Counselor’s primary role is to provide comprehensive academic and college advising retail services to students with diverse interests and abilities. College Counselors for The Princeton Review assist students and families with all aspects of the college preparation, search, and application process. The College Counselor may also be presented with special projects pertaining to other needs of the organization. Compensation: $50-$90/hr based on 15-30 hours/week during application season (September-November) What you will do: - Work with both middle and high school students through all aspects of the college admissions process. - Manage time to accommodate a pre-determined caseload of students. Caseloads may vary year-to-year based on company need and counselor availability. - Collaborate as part of a two-part team that includes College Admissions Coaches and other counselors (program dependent). - Meet with potential customers through online video meetings or phone calls to consult on program options, onboard families, and assist in deadline and program management (program dependent). - Counsel families through high pressure situations. - Deliver college admissions focused webinars, social media events, and assist with other marketing endeavors, as needed and time allows. - Assist with the delivery of institutional programming, as needed and time allows. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree required; higher level degree preferred. - A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in undergraduate admissions at a selective college or university required; high school or independent counseling experience also preferred. - A deep knowledge of the college admissions and application process with a desire to remain “on trend” in the field of college admissions and counseling. - A “people” person who makes others feel at ease, is engaging, flexible, and is collaborative by nature. - Exceptional writing skills with a deep knowledge of college essay editing. - Exceptional communication and public speaking skills. - Attention to detail, with strong organizational skills. - Expertise in using web-based tools to advise students. - Ability to work evenings and weekends, as needed, especially during the application season from August through December. - Excellent time management and productivity skills. - High level of accountability in all areas of work. Role Description In this position, you will provide housing counseling to referred homeowners. - Educate homeowners on various financial products and align their financial goals. - Deliver clear, consistent client education and program guidelines. - Provide resources and customized client action plans to clients as needed. - Conduct high-volume inbound and outbound phone communication with clients in a professional manner. - Build and maintain positive client relationships through effective telephone engagement. - Accurately enter, update, and transfer client data in applicable systems. - Participate in required training sessions related to programs, services, and compliance. - Meet established performance, productivity, and behavioral expectations. - Adhere to departmental policies, procedures, and quality standards; incorporate feedback from management. Qualifications - High School Diploma or Equivalent. - Required to obtain HUD Housing Counselor Certification within 30 days of hire (study materials provided). - Demonstrates a strong commitment to punctuality and dependable attendance. - Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills. - Demonstrate ability to manage time effectively and stay organized in a fast-paced environment. - Ability to communicate professionally in a high-volume call center setting (inbound and outbound). - Strong active listening skills with the ability to assess client needs accurately. - Ability to spend the majority of the workday on the phone. - Must be computer literate, proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, including typing at least 40 words per minute. - Willingness and availability to attend all required training courses. - Prior call center experience required; mortgage and/or housing industry experience is a plus. - Ability to pass a pre-employment screening process including criminal background check and drug screen. Qualifications - A minimum of five years working as an admissions officer/reader at a selective college including but not limited to experience as a high school counselor, independent counselor, or college counseling professional in a business setting. - A thorough understanding of the high school curriculum, AP, IB, all standardized tests including the ACT, SAT, and other standardized tests. - Experience working with students 7th -12th grade, transfer applications, and private/boarding school applicants. - Proven track record of student success with all different types of academic programs, including specializations, direct med, engineering, etc. - Successful methods with how to differentiate a student's application and build an incredible portfolio. - Experience with athletic recruitment and other specialized endeavors. - Excellent writer and understanding of the current admissions landscape. - Fun, knowledgeable, a motivator, and team builder. - Expertise with the differences between public, private, charter, and boarding school environments. - Expert knowledge of Naviance, Scoir, and other college admissions software. - Expertise with all application platforms (Common App, Coalition App, Apply Texas, and school specific applications). - Thorough knowledge of the college process, different types of schools, resources, and environments. - A proven track record with placing students in selective colleges, prestigious high school internships and other extracurricular activities. - In-depth knowledge with the financial aid process, scholarship options, and other aid. - Ability to create individualized plans for high school students with course selection, academic interest exploration, extracurricular activities and summer programs. - Familiarity with the academic and social demands of the high school culture and the competitive college admissions landscape. - Conduct ongoing research on school profiles, course catalogs and academic programs to provide well-informed responses to individual student’s needs. - Knowledge with academic programs and contests such as DECA, Science/Math Olympiads, AMC math competitions, Science Fairs, STEM competitions, etc. - A leader with great communication, organization, and writing skills to guide families and mentor students through the entire admissions process. - Creative, driven, with endless energy to build life skills, self-esteem, and confidence through positive reinforcement. - Proficient with using technology. - Patient, passionate, versatile, and dedicated to helping kids excel. - Strong desire to grow in a fast-paced startup environment with high levels of autonomy. - Be involved with a team that has bold ideas with the goal of reinventing education across the globe.
