Service Field Engineer

Motorola Solutions

• Responsibilities include optimization and support of complex communication systems and software applications, including advanced troubleshooting of software driven electronics, provisioning of communication system infrastructure and performance optimization of RF and Broadband systems. • Maintain, optimize, test and document complex communications systems. • Perform preventative maintenance routines to ensure proper system operation with focus on trend analysis and documentation of results. • Perform maintenance of server hardware/OS and software infrastructure and troubleshooting to resolve system/application related issues. • Develop solutions to difficult technical problems encountered as part of system maintenance, upgrades or support issues. • Team with engineering, project management and sales personnel to effectively maintain, optimize and support advanced communication systems which meet or exceed customer expectations. • Provide weekly reports of activities and accomplishments.

Job Requirements

  • 1+ years experience in one of the following: LMR, RF systems, Radio Communications, Radio Frequency, Motorola equipment, Wired/Wireless Communication Systems, IT Systems, Telecommunications, Public Safety, Engineering, Networking equipment or Military experience.
  • Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by government customer.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required.
  • Must have a current, valid driver’s license and no traffic violations.
  • Must be willing to travel 25% of the time as needed.
  • 2 year associate degree in electronics or IT preferred, or equivalent on-the-job experience.
  • Security +, CompTIA or related certificate is highly desirable.
  • Proficient in computer network installation, configuration and maintenance systems to include cabling, routers, switches, firewalls and bridges.
  • Knowledge of wired communications systems, such as local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN).
  • Experience with logging recording systems, RF interfaces, wired/wireless communications systems and networking equipment.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.

This position is in our Wisconsin and eastern Minnesota territory and can be filled by a trainee or experienced field engineer. Positions serving territories away from our headquarters in Fairfield, Ohio are fully remote.
