Role Description Nava’s Associate Counsel is for an early-career attorney who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and is energized by work that directly advances the public good. You will work alongside senior counsel and cross-functional teams—supporting compliance, employment matters, and government contracting operations—while developing substantive expertise across multiple practice areas. Our legal team operates as true business partners—collaborative, pragmatic, and invested in Nava’s mission. We value candor, intellectual curiosity, and the willingness to roll up your sleeves on any matter, large or small. The ideal candidate will bring: - A collegial, team-first mindset with the ability to build trusted relationships across legal, HR, finance, and program management. - Comfort operating in ambiguity—identifying practical paths forward when the law, the facts, or the business landscape are still evolving. - A client-service orientation balanced with sound risk judgment and the confidence to advocate for the right legal position. - Genuine enthusiasm for Nava’s mission of improving public services through technology. Qualifications - Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction. - 2–3 years of post-bar legal experience in employment law, government contracts, or a combination of both—gained through in-house, or government practice. - Working knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and/or federal employment laws (Title VII, ADEA, ADA, FMLA, FLSA). - Strong experience interpreting laws, rules, and regulations at local, state, and federal levels. - Strong legal research and writing skills with the ability to distill complex issues into clear, actionable guidance. - Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in ambiguous or rapidly evolving environments. - Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. - Attention to detail and strong organizational skills. - Build and maintain positive relationships with internal stakeholders, as well as external customers and business partners with whom Nava negotiates. Requirements - Experience with GSA Schedule contracts, HHS/CMS procurements, VA contracting, or SBA small business programs. - Familiarity with OFCCP compliance and multi-state employment law. - Prior in-house experience, particularly within a technology or government services company. - Comfort with legal technology tools and modern contract lifecycle management platforms. - Proficiency in GSuite, Slack, Zoom, Excel, Apple computers, and other tools used to support a remote-work environment. Benefits - Health coverage — comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans to support your overall health needs. - Insurance coverage — Nava provides disability, life, and accidental death insurance at no cost. - Time off — vacation, holidays (including Juneteenth), and floating holidays to rest and recharge. - Company holidays — enjoy 12 paid federal holidays each year on top of your regular PTO. - Annual bonus — when Nava meets its goals, eligible employees receive a performance-based annual bonus. - Parental leave — paid time off for new parents, plus weekly meals delivered to your home. - Wellness program — full platform offering physical, mental, & emotional health resources & support tools. - Virtual care — see doctors online with no copay through UnitedHealthcare’s virtual visit program. - Sabbatical leave — earn extended unpaid leave after continuous service for personal growth or rest. - 401(k) match — Nava matches 4% of your salary to support your retirement savings plan. - Flexible work — remote-first environment with flexibility built around your schedule and responsibilities. - Home office setup — company laptop & setup assistance provided via Staples for remote work needs. - Utility support — monthly reimbursement to help offset eligible home office utility expenses. - Learning opportunities — internal training programs and resources to help grow your professional skills. - Development opportunities — LinkedIn Learning access & an annual allowance for courses, tuition, & certs. - Referral bonus — get rewarded when you refer great people who join the Nava team. - Commuter benefits — pre-tax commuter programs to support in-office travel when applicable. - Supportive culture — A collaborative and remote-friendly team environment where people genuinely care.
