Project Engineer Electrical - Senior Technical Manager

Role Description WSP is currently initiating a search for a Project Engineer (PE) for our Power Delivery team in Billings, MT. This position is posted in multiple office locations with the ability to work remotely from a mutually acceptable location (Seattle, WA; Denver, CO; Charlotte, NC; Houston, TX; Phoenix, AZ or Freeport, ME). The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for working with our project management team, engineering teams, and directly with clients to manage business development among existing and new clients targeting NERC compliance services. Depending on candidate experience, responsibilities can include a mix of: - Project engineering (technical team leadership) - Project management - Project execution (engineering) Project Engineering includes: - Leading others in the preparation of proposals - Executing studies - Providing engineering services for utility, renewable, and industrial/commercial electrical power transmission and distribution systems Project execution duties include: - Development of compliance studies - Engineering documentation for compliance with relevant NERC standards Additional responsibilities include: - Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct - Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures - Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs - Promote company culture while managing internal and external relationships - Collaborate with other teams, business units, business developers, and marketers - Provide leadership and mentoring to the project team - Develop & maintain schedules - Lead/participate in project meetings with project teams - Oversee budgets - Participate in proposal preparation - Take leading role in client relationships - Travel locally to regional clients and for site visits generally within the US, with an emphasis on minimizing travel through modern connectivity Qualifications - Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience) - 10+ years of relevant post-education experience as an electrical engineer providing design deliverables for large capital projects - Engineer license required (multi-state preferred) - Three (3) + years' relevant project leadership experience - Familiarity with NERC Reliability Standards across all Operations & Planning (O&P) and Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) - Familiarity with utilities, developers, operators, and renewable companies subject to NERC - Relevant experience includes small- to medium-scale project lead engineering experience on projects - Knowledge of substation and grid operation as they relate to the above listed - Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies - Good English verbal and written communication skills - Willingness to travel and work successfully in a customer-focused, project-oriented environment - Flexibility to a variety of schedules to meet business needs - Able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment - Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements Requirements - Master’s Degree in Engineering (preferred) - 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) (preferred) - Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training (desired) - Experience in protective relaying, SCADA, substation communications, cybersecurity, transmission planning, or other studies (beneficial, but not required) Benefits - Comprehensive suite of benefits focused on providing health and financial stability throughout the employee’s career - Coverage related to medical, dental, vision, disability, and life - Retirement savings - Paid sick leave - Paid vacation (or other personal time) - Paid parental leave - Paid time off for purposes of bereavement, voting, and/or attendance at naturalization proceedings Compensation Expected Salary (Denver & Seattle): $134,700yr - $244,000yr.
