• lead the end-to-end strategy, planning, execution, and delivery of large-scale AI dataset development programs • drive alignment across ML engineers, GIS engineers, technical artists, product stakeholders, infrastructure teams, and external annotation partners to deliver complex technical initiatives • partner with engineering and research leaders to define scalable data pipelines, annotation workflows, and operational best practices that improve quality, efficiency, and model performance • own strategic vendor relationships, including onboarding, quality assurance, throughput planning, operational metrics, and continuous process improvement • define annotation standards, quality metrics, validation processes, and data governance practices to ensure reproducible, high-quality datasets across the organization • partner with engineering teams to improve annotation platforms, automation, and data infrastructure, ensuring scalable, secure, and reliable dataset production • identify cross-program risks, manage dependencies, establish operational metrics, and communicate program health and strategic recommendations to senior leadership • ensure data collection, annotation, and governance practices adhere to privacy, security, regulatory, and responsible AI standards • drive documentation standards that ensure data provenance, technical decisions, operational processes, and institutional knowledge are maintained and easily transferable
Job Requirements
- 10+ years of experience leading large-scale technical programs
- significant experience in AI/ML, data infrastructure, or large-scale data annotation
- demonstrated success leading highly complex, cross-functional programs involving multiple engineering organizations and executive stakeholders
- deep understanding of geospatial data types (e.g., rasters, 3D point clouds, 2D vector data) and formats (COG, OSM, GeoJSON, Shapefile, LAZ) is a plus
- comfort with machine learning workflows, supervised learning, dataset development, and data quality management
- strong systems thinking with the ability to connect technical decisions to business outcomes
- high attention to detail and conscientiousness
- fluency with project management tools such as Jira and Confluence
- comfort with the Unix command line and familiarity with Git for version control and a git server
- familiarity with database management or administration
- technical background (e.g., CS, Data Science, Engineering) is preferred
- background with real-time 3D rendering is preferred.
