Director, Quality Engineering – Platform Reliability

• Define and execute the enterprise Quality Engineering roadmap, establishing automation-first testing practices across UI, API, integration, performance, and end-to-end workflows • Drive shift-left quality practices throughout the SDLC and partner with Engineering, Product, Architecture, and Operations leaders to improve platform reliability, delivery predictability, and customer experience • Lead adoption of AI-assisted quality engineering practices, including AI-enabled approaches for test generation, defect detection, regression optimization, and release validation • Evaluate and implement AI-powered quality engineering platforms and agentic workflows, establishing governance and best practices for AI-enabled software delivery using tools such as GitHub Copilot and Claude Code • Define testing strategies for platform modernization initiatives, including legacy enterprise platforms, cloud-native services, APIs, event-driven architectures, messaging systems, and EDI integrations • Build and scale enterprise automation frameworks, establishing and governing Playwright-based automation standards integrated into CI/CD pipelines and quality gates • Implement performance, scalability, resiliency, and reliability testing practices alongside observability-driven quality validation, synthetic monitoring, and production testing strategies • Define and manage quality KPIs including defect escape rate, automation coverage, deployment success rate, release readiness, MTTD, MTTR, and platform availability metrics • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Quality Engineering managers, automation engineers, QA engineers, and quality analysts • Drive organizational alignment on quality standards and engineering best practices across globally distributed engineering teams
Job Requirements
- 12+ years of experience in Quality Engineering, Software Testing, or Software Engineering
- 5+ years leading Quality Engineering organizations and people leaders
- Proven experience defining and scaling quality strategies for complex enterprise software platforms
- Deep expertise in enterprise test automation strategy and implementation, including Playwright-based framework development and scaling
- Strong experience testing API-first, integration-heavy, and data-driven applications, with hands-on knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automated quality gates
- Experience supporting platform modernization initiatives and leading quality transformation from manual testing to automation-first engineering practices
- Expertise with SQL Server, database testing, data validation, and Microsoft-based enterprise platforms including .NET applications, APIs, integration services, and cloud-native solutions
- Experience with shift-left testing, BDD frameworks (Gherkin, SpecFlow), observability-driven quality engineering, and engineering metrics and quality analytics
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
