Role Description We are delighted to be able to invite applications from qualified lawyers (both Solicitors and Chartered Legal Executives) at all levels and Experienced Paralegals wanting to join our national Sports Liability Team. Our team is led by David Spencer and Richard Rowe, sitting within the wider Complex Injury team. Our clients are a mix of leading names in the insurance industry as well as National Governing Bodies, Sporting Associations, Clubs and commercial organisations. Our team provides effective claims solutions for sports related claims, including injuries of the utmost severity and complexity, working closely with our insurer and insured clients and their brokers. Whether the instruction is for pre-emptive advice, notification and investigation of incidents, claims handling or appointment for litigation our aim is to provide a clear strategy from the outset to achieve the best outcome for our clients. What you will do? - In the senior roles, you will be responsible for running your own case load of injury files to ensure deadlines are met and cases managed proactively to conclusion. - Devising a clear case strategy which is adhered to, ensuring cases are run smoothly and balance the commercial interests of both the Firm and the client. - Manage and mentor junior colleagues, including allocation of work. - For those junior roles, assist senior fee earners on complex and higher value cases and take responsibility for the management and strategy of lower value claims. - For all roles, ensure work is carried out effectively to meet the needs of the clients, the commercial requirements of the firm and the quality standards to include: - Adherence to internal and client SLAs, KPIs and protocols. - Achievement of agreed financial targets. - Prompt billing and collection of WIP and disbursements. - Prompt and accurate provision of MI. - Applying appropriate and current technical expertise and case law. - Effectively managing risk and compliance issues within each case, ensuring any emerging problems are escalated promptly to your supervisor in the first instance. - Engaging with clients where appropriate to maximise opportunities to meet and build rapport with clients, at all times acting as an ambassador of the firm. - Contribute to Business Development and client relationship activity in support of the Client Relationship Partner where required. - Maintaining and developing technical knowledge through attendance at training sessions and reading appropriate publications. Qualifications - Previous experience of working or assisting on either Personal Injury, EL/PL or Catastrophic and Complex Injury claims, or a keen interest in this area of law. - A high level of personal compliance with firm protocols and procedures. - Good legal knowledge relevant to their area of expertise. - An ability to adopt a commercial perspective to legal issues. - Confident negotiation skills. - The ability to be team oriented and collegiate with a willingness to share knowledge with and support other members of the team. - Excellent relationship and client handling skills. A Day in the Life - Act as the primary reviewer and negotiator for high-stakes, non-standard enterprise SaaS and services agreements across the U.S. and Europe. - Partner directly with the Senior Director of Contracts to co-create a modernized clause library, progressive negotiation guidelines, and customized templates that balance risk with fairness at scale. - Leverage AI-based contract review tools to flag contractual risks, accelerate deal velocity, and continuously feed back insights to train and improve the model's performance. - Collaborate directly with sales leadership, project teams, and InfoSec to resolve complex deal blockers, clarify scopes of work, and translate dense legal risk into practical, actionable business choices. - Oversee critical risk functions, including data privacy compliance alignment, state/federal due diligence, and managing the annual renewal of corporate insurance policies.
