Job Description

Commercial Counsel

Deque Systems, Inc

Role Description Every day, millions of people with disabilities face unnecessary barriers online. At Deque, we are changing that. As the global leader in digital accessibility, our mission is digital equality for all persons. We maintain axe-core, the de facto world standard for accessibility testing, and our enterprise software empowers the world’s top brands to build inclusive digital experiences. If you are a seasoned tech attorney who wants your daily work to have a profound, real-world impact, this is your opportunity. You will not just be pushing paper; you will be building the equitable contracting systems that scale a mission-driven, fast-growing pioneer. Qualifications - At least 5 years of experience handling technology contracts at a law firm, or driving sales-side legal operations for a high-growth B2B SaaS or enterprise software company. - Deep, current knowledge of the information security, data privacy, and intellectual property requirements demanded by Fortune 500 companies, multinational European brands, and major US financial institutions. - Substantive expertise navigating state, local government, and higher education procurement statutes. - Experience working with Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) tools, Salesforce, and a strong desire to utilize and optimize AI-powered contract review models. - A documented legal background (J.D. or legal training) with experience serving as a second-level reviewer, approver, and escalation point for complex, high-risk agreements. Requirements - Must be authorized to work in the United States and reside in the Eastern or Central Time Zone. A Day in the Life - Act as the primary reviewer and negotiator for high-stakes, non-standard enterprise SaaS and services agreements across the U.S. and Europe. - Partner directly with the Senior Director of Contracts to co-create a modernized clause library, progressive negotiation guidelines, and customized templates that balance risk with fairness at scale. - Leverage AI-based contract review tools to flag contractual risks, accelerate deal velocity, and continuously feed back insights to train and improve the model's performance. - Collaborate directly with sales leadership, project teams, and InfoSec to resolve complex deal blockers, clarify scopes of work, and translate dense legal risk into practical, actionable business choices. - Oversee critical risk functions, including data privacy compliance alignment, state/federal due diligence, and managing the annual renewal of corporate insurance policies. How to Apply If you are ready to apply your legal expertise to a meaningful mission, we want to hear from you. Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter highlighting your experience handling complex enterprise SaaS transactions in a fast-paced tech environment through our careers portal.
