Role Description The Patient Financial Navigator Lead ensures that each patient has a complete and accurate OSF financial record. The Patient Financial Navigator Lead will educate and support the patient on their pre and post financial options. This position functions as a team resource on highly complex issues and problem resolution, serving as a dedicated escalation point for multiple functional areas and determining the appropriate outside resources required to support escalation. - Significant understanding of the revenue cycle and the importance of evaluating and securing all appropriate financial resources for patients to maximize reimbursement to the Health System. - Provides support to Patient Financial Navigators to ensure quality and efficiency of functions performed including mentoring, training, quality assurance, assisting with screening of potential candidates, analyzing reports, auditing, account resolution, completion of department schedules, and payroll/timekeeping. - Expected to guide and support change and process improvement opportunities throughout the department. - Works with department leadership to set standards, develop, and execute improvement plans. Qualifications - Education: Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience of 2 years in a healthcare or public health setting with a combination of the following: patient finance, insurance benefits, financial assistance programs, public health, social services, or other community-based background. - Experience: - Two years' experience in healthcare collection, financial counseling, insurance benefit verification and/or precertification, third party payor, Medicaid case work, admitting or billing experience. - One year experience with customer service/relations. - Other skills/knowledge: - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. - Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to be detail-oriented. Role Description We are seeking a Temporary Senior Financial Aid Advisor to work remotely on a full-time 37.5-hour per week basis. - Provides personalized financial aid counseling to students on all aspects of financial aid programs from all federal, state, university, and private loan and scholarship sources. - Analyzes and verifies eligibility and awards the financial aid for all financial aid programs. - Monitors student eligibility and processes all aid award adjustments for enrollment changes, including tuition adjustments, leave of absence, and withdrawal. - Interacts with outside agencies (such as federal student aid, private lenders, loan servicers, and external scholarship providers) to facilitate compliant student advisement, eligibility, and awarding. - Processes disbursement transmittal and student notifications for federal and private loans, as well as institutional scholarships. - Conducts financial literacy and default prevention activities. - Maintains working knowledge of regulatory requirements and processes in relation to job tasks. - Assists in ensuring departmental compliance with federal and state regulations and university policies, and communicates them effectively to students and staff. - Completes daily data import processing, routine financial aid reporting, and other duties as assigned.
