Role Description This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy in the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group) ARTL 1P97: Language for the Arts: Interdisciplinary Approaches – D3 Understanding interdisciplinary connections between the arts. Reporting arts and culture. Examples may include photography, visual arts, new media art, performance, music, and dramatic arts. - Course Format: Lectures/seminar, 3 hours per week, ASY Fully online, asynchronous Compensation: - Effective September 1, 2026 - $7,887.59 per half course (195 hours nominally) - Effective September 1, 2026 - $15,775.20 per full course (390 hours nominally) Please note: Instructors who are employed in a 2-hour/week lecture, or the equivalent of a 2-hour/week lecture, are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course. Duties and responsibilities will be in accordance with Article 22.01 of the Collective Agreement. These include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time (preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading and course administration, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty). Qualifications - Relevant MA or PhD in subjects of the Fine and Performing Arts and/or Writing for the Arts or similar field. - Must possess an understanding of the interdisciplinary connections between the arts. - Previous or current experience as a writer in the for-profit or not-for-profit sector. - Previous teaching experience at the university level in the same subject field is required. Teaching experience in STAC/ARTL 1P96 or STAC/ARTL 1P97 preferred. - Demonstrated teaching competence through previous course evaluations and three letters of reference. - Demonstrated experience in experiential learning and online teaching. - Demonstrated competence in teaching large classes (100 and over).
