Role Description This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy in the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group). - Course: ARTL 1P96: Language for the Arts: Introduction – D2 - Focus: Development of writing skills through the reporting of arts and culture, including photography, visual arts, new media art, performance, music, and dramatic arts. - Course Format: Lectures/seminar, 3 hours per week, fully online, asynchronous. - Compensation: - Effective September 1, 2026 - $7,887.59 per half course (195 hours nominally) - Effective September 1, 2026 - $15,775.20 per full course (390 hours nominally) - Instructors employed in a 2-hour/week lecture are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course. Duties and responsibilities will be in accordance with Article 22.01 of the Collective Agreement, including scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time (preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading, and course administration, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty). Qualifications - Relevant MA or PhD in subjects of the Fine and Performing Arts and/or Writing for the Arts or similar. - Must possess an understanding of the interdisciplinary connections between the arts. - Previous or current experience as a writer in the for-profit or not-for-profit sector. - Previous teaching experience at the university level in the same subject field is required; teaching experience in STAC/ARTL 1P96 or STAC/ARTL 1P97 preferred. - Demonstrated teaching competence through previous course evaluations and three letters of reference. - Demonstrated experience in experiential learning and online teaching. - Demonstrated competence in teaching large classes (100 and over).
