Role Description We are hiring an Application Engineer to join our Technology team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Engineering, you will play a key role in supporting and enhancing Away’s Shopify storefront, custom theme extensions, and POS integrations. You’ll implement fast, elegant, and conversion-focused digital experiences across our customer touchpoints, partnering with Product, Brand, and Growth Marketing teams to maintain existing systems and deliver new features that help the business scale. - You’ll maintain and update Away’s Shopify theme, using Liquid templating to implement design changes and features that ensure a performant and brand-aligned storefront. - You’ll contribute to the development of internal Shopify apps using Node.js and Remix, assisting with features for promotions, bundling, and checkout customizations under the guidance of senior engineers. - You’ll troubleshoot and resolve bugs within the Shopify storefront and POS integrations, serving as a reliable point of contact for operational issues and escalating high-complexity challenges when necessary. - You’ll support Away’s retail team by implementing updates to Shopify POS UI extensions and assisting with the maintenance of hardware integrations. - You’ll build and manage standard webhooks and backend event handlers, ensuring reliable data flow between Shopify and third-party platforms like Klaviyo and AfterShip. - You’ll follow established best practices for performance, accessibility, and SEO across Shopify surfaces, ensuring our web properties meet technical standards. - You’ll help reduce technical debt by assisting with upgrades to developer tooling and keeping our stack aligned with Shopify’s latest platform features. - You’ll contribute to engineering documentation and participate in team code reviews, supporting a collaborative environment and a "no-ego" approach to feedback. - You’ll leverage AI-powered development tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code) to accelerate the delivery of well-scoped tasks and contribute to the maintenance of AI-backed features. - You’ll partner with Growth, Brand, and Product teams to ship defined features across web properties, ensuring a seamless e-commerce experience. - You’ll assist Data Engineering in implementing server-side event tracking via GTM and Amplitude to ensure reliable product analytics and attribution. - Solution-Oriented Collaboration: Work closely with your manager to identify and plan technical solutions. Proactively suggest AI-driven workflows to handle unplanned work or maintenance. - Use AI to generate comprehensive unit tests and documentation for all new code, ensuring system resilience. Qualifications - You have 3 years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 1 year of hands-on Shopify development. - Strong familiarity with the Shopify ecosystem, including Liquid, Storefront API, and Theme App Extensions. - Proficient in JavaScript and TypeScript, with experience in React and modern front-end tooling. - A solid understanding of REST and GraphQL APIs. - You are eager to use AI-powered coding agents (like Cursor or Claude Code) to improve your efficiency and deliver high-quality code. - You approach technical challenges methodically, identifying solutions for low-to-mid complexity issues and knowing when to escalate more complex trade-offs to senior leads. - You are solution-oriented and don’t wait for every instruction; you identify technical needs within your tasks and partner with your team to translate requirements into working code. - You can explain your technical approach to both peers and non-technical partners, ensuring alignment on the customer journey and project goals. - You enjoy building fresh, brand-consistent experiences and thrive in a fast-paced environment where priorities may evolve. - Proficiency in using LLMs to draft code snippets, debug logic, and summarize technical documentation. Requirements - Bonus points if you have experience with Shopify Markets or international commerce; e-commerce analytics (GTM, GA4); cloud infrastructure (Vercel, AWS); or Shopify POS extensions. - You’re creative and innovative; you love to build great new things that are fresh and unique while staying on brand. - You’re agile, and motivated by a fast-paced and ever-changing environment. - You’re passionate about transforming travel for all (but that’s a given!). Role Description Under general supervision, is responsible for posting all cash receipts and appropriate adjustments to patient accounts.
