The Behavioral Intake Counselor (BIC) is a position for the County of San Diego's 24/7 Access and Crisis Line (ACL) which provides free, confidential access to behavioral health services and crisis intervention for the 3.3 million San Diegans. Behavioral Health Access -Mental Health & Substance Use Disorder Treatment Services within the system of care. ACL clinicians need to quickly establish an emotional connection with the individual seeking help, identify their needs, conduct a behavioral health screening which includes an adapted ASAM screening, recognize and properly follow up on any risk factors, and help provide linkage to the most appropriate type and level of care based on the collective screenings and preferences of the caller/chatter. Working Schedule: 4 day working week: Friday - Monday 2pm - 12:30am Initial Training: 1 month: Monday to Friday - Typically 7- 4.30pm depending on trainer availability Candidates must be available for both the training schedule and working schedule, this is not flexible. • Interacting with retirement plan participants through multiple channels needing assistance with retirement plan rollovers. • Supporting investment advisory services. • Explaining investment services available to participants with the goal to direct them to the correct service. • Providing financial education related to various retirement plan topics. • Interviewing individuals to gather required information, review planning suggestions, and deliver the right solution to the individual. • Making warm outbound calls to customers interested in the creation of an account or in our programs. • Explaining employer-based retirement plan requirements and basic IRS regulations related to 401(k) transactions to retirement plan participants. • Collaborating with Benefits Center Customer Care teams to enhance customer experience. • Providing education on IRA accounts, Advisory products, and best practices. • Identifying strategies to improve referrals and facilitate reciprocal sharing of knowledge. • Engaging with customers to handle account inquiries and update information. • Providing assistance with trading activities and respond to customer inquiries. • Troubleshooting basic technical issues and offer product and service literature. • Participating in the process of setting up new accounts and maintaining accounts for customers. • Accurately recording account openings and other transactions in our record keeping database.

Mental Health Counselors provide evidence-informed crisis intervention, brief supportive counseling, suicide prevention, information & referral and follow-up services to individuals who contact the Helpline Center through 988 in emotional distress, with substance use issues or with suicidal ideation.
