Virtualization Solution Architect

Role Description We are seeking an experienced Virtualization Solution Architect to design, plan, and implement enterprise virtualization and migration solutions as part of a managed services offering. This role requires deep hands-on and architectural expertise across VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V, and System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM), with a strong ability to translate customer requirements into scalable, secure, and supportable solutions. Key Responsibilities - Virtualization Architecture & Design - Act as the solution architect for virtualization platforms including VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, and SCVMM. - Design highly available, scalable, and performance-optimized virtualization architectures. - Align solutions with managed services standards, SLAs, and operational best practices. - Migration Planning & Execution - Plan, design, and lead virtualization migration initiatives across platforms. - Develop migration strategies, schedules, and cutover plans to minimize risk and downtime. - Validate post-migration environments for stability, performance, and operational readiness. - Managed Services Enablement - Design virtualization solutions with monitoring, supportability, and long-term operations in mind. - Partner with managed services teams to ensure seamless onboarding and service delivery handoff. - Define reference architectures and reusable patterns for repeatable service offerings. - Infrastructure & Platform Integration - Collaborate on integration with storage, networking, security, and backup platforms. - Ensure virtualization solutions meet customer security, compliance, and governance requirements. - Technical Leadership & Client Engagement - Serve as a technical authority during pre-sales discussions, design workshops, and delivery phases. - Translate customer requirements into clear designs, diagrams, and documentation. - Provide technical mentorship and escalation support to engineering teams. Qualifications - Deep expertise in VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, and SCVMM. - Proven experience planning and executing virtualization migrations. - Strong background in delivering solutions within managed services environments. - Experience designing solutions for enterprise or mid-market customers. - Excellent documentation, architectural, and communication skills. Requirements - Experience with Managed Services Providers (MSP) or Professional Services organizations. - Knowledge of disaster recovery, business continuity, and automation practices. - Relevant VMware or Microsoft certifications. Soft Skills & Attributes - Strong consultative and customer-facing skills. - Ability to balance strategic architecture with hands-on execution. - Detail-oriented, organized, and process-driven.
