Technical Solutions Architect III – Application Modernization and Software Strategy

World Wide Technology Healthcare Solutions

Role Description Our Cloud Team is currently looking for a Technical Solutions Architect with an AWS focus who is passionate about Cloud Migration and Application Modernization. Technical Solutions Architects are quintessential customer advocates with both superb business acumen and a high degree of technical proficiency. As a key contributor around Application Modernization and Software Strategy, you will focus on transforming business through innovative solutions that deliver best in class omnichannel experiences. Key Responsibilities Include: - Practice Development: Architect and codify WWT’s “Modernization Factory” approach. Define the standard patterns for Domain Driven Design (DDD) and the Strangler Fig Pattern on AWS to allow sales teams to sell complex refactoring with confidence. - Strategic Portfolio: In collaboration with the larger WWT team, build and maintain your portion of the Cloud Migration & Application Modernization solution portfolio as part of the team that defines this aspect of our go-to-market strategy for WWT to grow our cloud business, driving the creation of standardized and repeatable solution offerings in conjunction with our strategic partners and their programs. - Partner/Solution Alignment: Work with our professional services organization and trusted services partners to ensure alignment between our solution portfolio and services capabilities. - Pre-Sales: Lead high-level Application Portfolio Assessments (APA). Guide CTOs/VPs of Engineering on the decision to “Re-factor versus Re-write.” You will be the technical authority in “Application Modernization” workshops, distinguishing WWT from commodity migration vendors. - Enablement: Elevate the technical fluency of the field sales organization, teaching them to identify software decay and technical debt as triggers for AWS services (e.g. selling AWS Lambda not just as a compute service, but as a cure for operational overhead). - Competency Leadership: Drive WWT’s alignment with the AWS Migration & Modernization Competency, specifically the Refactor and Cloud Native pathways. Ensure our internal IP maps directly to AWS funding programs like MAP for Modernization. Qualifications - Must have a background in Software Engineering (Java, .NET, or Python). Comfortable reading legacy code to understand dependencies, not just managing infrastructure. - Demonstrable expertise in modernization patterns such as Event Sourcing, Command Query Responsibility Segregation (CQRS), and Saga Patterns using AWS native services. - At least 5 years selling, architecting or implementing solutions utilizing AWS developer-centric services and tools, such as App Runner, Fargate, EKS (Kubernetes), Proton and Migration Hub Refactor Spaces. - Deep working knowledge of AWS native and AWS compatible services and how they are used in application development for AI solutions, including the areas of vector databases, agent infrastructure, GPU-based training, memory, networking, and storage. - Deep familiarity and proficiency with modern AI tools. Specifically, experience integrating Gen AI coding assistants (e.g. Windsurf, Amazon Q for Developers) into CI/CD pipelines to accelerate code re-factoring and other application modernization tasks (e.g. Java version upgrades or .NET refactoring). - Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex modernization strategies to C-level executives. - AWS Certified Professional Generative AI Developer or DevOps Engineer or confident ability to demonstrate equivalent-level subject matter expertise with immediate plan to either acquire or re-acquire this level of professional certification. - 4-year bachelor’s degree in an IT-related field or equivalent professional experience preferred. - Ability for overnight travel (25% - 50%). Requirements - Ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. - Proven experience in cloud migration and application modernization. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Benefits - Health and Wellbeing: Health, Dental, and Vision Care, Onsite Health Centers, Employee Assistance Program, Wellness program. - Financial Benefits: Competitive pay, Profit Sharing, 401k Plan with Company Matching, Life and Disability Insurance, Tuition Reimbursement. - Paid Time Off: PTO and Sick Leave (starting at 20 days per year) & Holidays (10 per year), Parental Leave, Military Leave, Bereavement. - Additional Perks: Nursing Mothers Benefits, Voluntary Legal, Pet Insurance, Employee Discount Program.
