Job Description
Program Manager - Customer Delivery
DevDocs
About the Company DevDocs is a fully remote company that hires developers to build documentation and docs tooling for clients like Qualcomm, American Express, and C3 AI. We don't hire writers, and we don't just crank out docs: our close-knit team is full of technical experts who can deeply understand a client's products, consult on their problems, then design tools and systems to automate their docs processes (and write the most important docs). We’re looking for a Program Manager who enjoys bringing clarity to complex technical work. In this role, you’ll help turn architecture and ideas into coordinated execution, ensuring projects move forward thoughtfully and teams stay aligned. Rather than simply pushing timelines, the Program Manager helps teams understand where work is getting stuck, surfaces risks early, and improves the systems we use to plan and deliver meaningful work. Key Responsibilities: - Own the full delivery lifecycle from signed SOW to kickoff, execution, and closeout: project charter, success metrics, milestones, and operating cadence. - Lead customer relationship management day-to-day: stakeholder mapping, executive updates, expectation-setting, escalation management, and maintaining trust through ambiguity or change. - Build and run the project management system: integrated project plan, RAID log (risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies), decision log, and change control process. - Manage scope, budget, and delivery performance: forecasting, cost management, burn tracking, change orders, and clear tradeoff decisions. - Run high-quality customer and internal meetings: agendas, facilitation, notes, action items, follow-ups, and ensuring decisions are captured and executed. - Coach and enable the delivery team: clarify roles and responsibilities, remove blockers, improve execution habits, and raise the bar on planning and communication. - Monitor engagement health and delivery quality: track progress, surface early warning signals, and drive corrective actions before timelines or relationships slip.
Job Requirements
- 5+ years of program/project management experience delivering multi-workstream initiatives with measurable outcomes.
- 5+ years of customer-facing engagement experience (external stakeholders), including executive communication and expectation management.
- Demonstrated experience owning delivery from contract/SOW through kickoff, execution, and closeout.
- Strong fundamentals across project planning, risk management, change control, and budget/cost management.
- Proven ability to run effective meetings and operating cadences (weekly status, steering committees, working sessions) that drive decisions and execution.
- Excellent written communication skills (clear status updates, meeting notes, action plans, and documentation of decisions/risks).
- Demonstrated experience using AI and automation tools to increase efficiency (e.g., summarization, draft generation, reporting, workflow automation) while maintaining accuracy and quality.
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and building lightweight but effective processes.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- PMP certification (preferred, not required).
- Experience in professional services, consulting, or agency delivery environments.
- Familiarity with documentation, knowledge management, or docs-as-code workflows.
- Experience supporting technical stakeholders (engineering/product) and translating complex work into clear delivery plans.
- What Success Looks Like
- In this role, success often means:
- Teams have clear plans and shared understanding of priorities
- Risks and blockers are surfaced early rather than late
- Projects move forward with clarity and coordination
- Stakeholders trust the process and feel informed and aligned
- How We Work Together
- Remote-first and human-centered
- Sustainable pace, no performative urgency
- Trust and transparency
- Continuous learning and improvement
- Space for roles to evolve with the company
