Job DescriptionThe Field Engineer entails delivering expert-level technical assistance, system optimization, and detailed documentation for specialized communication frameworks. Key duties involve managing sophisticated RF and Broadband architectures alongside critical network infrastructure. The role requires performing on-site infrastructure enhancements, resolving intricate technical issues for public safety clients, and ensuring "as-built" documentation remains accurate and current. Technical Support & Optimization: - Provide advanced technical support for specialized systems and product applications, focusing on troubleshooting software-driven electronics and optimizing performance for RF and Broadband architectures. - Ability to troubleshoot Windows Server (2012-2022) and SQL databases. - Work with various technologies, including legacy analog, advanced digital P25, and data infrastructure. - Program, configure, optimize, test, and document complex communications systems. - Develop and implement solutions for difficult technical challenges encountered during system implementation, upgrades, or support activities. - Perform preventative maintenance (PM) routines to ensure proper system operation, focusing on trend analysis and meticulous documentation of results. Reporting: - Submit comprehensive weekly reports detailing activities and accomplishments. Networking & IT: - Strong knowledge and proficiency in wired communications systems (LAN/WAN). - Expertise in computer network installation, configuration, and maintenance, including cabling, routers, switches, firewalls, and bridges. - Ability to install server hardware/Operating Systems and software infrastructure, and troubleshoot to resolve system/application issues. - Knowledge of standard telephony, dedicated data circuits, and packet switching techniques. - High computer literacy, with proficiency in Google Suite platform, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access. RF Communications: - Knowledge of R.F. systems, including transmitters, receivers, and antenna networks. - Proficiency in using various communications test equipment. Professional Attributes: - Strong self-management and self-motivation skills. - Excellent communication skills. - Ability to quickly solve customer problems in high-stress situations. Preferred Experience - Optimization and support of complex communication systems. - Experience with unique combinations of multi-site RF communication systems and/or computer/networking skills. - Experience with logging recording systems, RF interfaces, wired/wireless communications systems, and/or networking equipment. Experience with the following equipment is desirable: - Consoles (MCC7500, MCC7100) - Channel Banks and T1 Circuits - Computer IP Networks and Configuration - RF Infrastructure Technologies Core Technical Requirements: - Experience: 3–5+ years in RF communications, IP networking, and server administration, with a focus on installation and troubleshooting. - RF Systems: Proficiency with LMR systems, P25 trunked/conventional systems, and Motorola G-Series base stations. - Networking & IT: Experience with LAN/WAN IP networks, including Cisco or Juniper routers, switches, and firewalls. - Server Virtualization: Hands-on experience with VMware ESXi v6/v7+, Microsoft Hyper-V, and Red Hat Linux. - System Implementation: Familiarity with Motorola consoles (e.g., MCC7500), channel banks, and KMF/KVL encryption devices. Qualifications and Responsibilities: - Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or 5+ years of equivalent experience. - Certifications: CompTIA Network+, Security+, or Cisco CCNA are highly desirable. - Tools: Proficiency with RF test equipment, such as Viavi 3920B or Anritsu S412E analyzers. - Travel Requirements: Significant travel exceeding 75% to various Department of Defense (DoD) locations across the United States. Passport is preferred. - Environment: To support a stronger "home team" environment and facilitate cross-training opportunities, candidates based near the Davie FL office are required to report to their base office when they are not traveling or working in the field. Security & Citizenship: - Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contract(s). - Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required.
