We are seeking a technical and empathetic Engineering Manager to lead, mentor, and grow a dedicated team of talented engineers. In this role, you'll be instrumental in driving technical strategy, championing best practices, and fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, you will work closely with product, design, and other cross-functional partners to deliver innovative and impactful reporting and analytics solutions, leveraging your deep understanding of the engineering IC experience and your proven leadership skills to empower your team and ensure successful project execution. Who will love this job - A Mentor – you are passionate about coaching, developing, and advancing engineering talent, especially to senior levels - A Builder – you thrive on navigating ambiguity, assessing risks, making decisions, and driving initiatives forward in dynamic environments - An Empathetic Leader – you genuinely understand the daily challenges engineers face and excel at fostering a supportive, trust-based, and inclusive team environment - A Strategic Partner – you bridge the gap between technical vision and business goals and excel at managing cross-functional relationships, setting clear expectations, and articulating complex technical logic persuasively to any stakeholder - An AI Enthusiast – you proactively leverage AI to optimize your own workflow and empower your team to stay up to date on emerging tools and trends What you’ll do - Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers, fostering their performance, growth, and career progression through effective coaching and feedback - Drive new initiatives for our reporting and analytics products - Drive the technical direction and architectural design for your team's domain, ensuring solutions are scalable, robust, and well-engineered - Champion and implement SDLC best practices to ensure high-quality software delivery and team efficiency - Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineering teams to define, prioritize, and deliver on product roadmaps - Manage team performance, empowering individuals and motivating the team to achieve impactful results and meet objectives - Actively foster a diverse, equitable, and inclusive team culture where all voices are heard and valued - Facilitate effective team collaboration, guide sound technical decision-making, and manage stakeholder expectations You should have - 1+ years of experience leading engineering teams (ideally 5+ individuals), including mentoring, performance management, and guiding collaborative technical decision-making - 5+ years of experience as a Full Stack Software Engineer (experience with BE, FE, and relational databases), start-up experience preferred - Deep understanding of RESTful API design principles and distributed system architecture - Demonstrated proficiency in modern programming languages/frameworks (JS, TS, Ruby, C#, Python, React) - Demonstrated ability to manage cross functional collaboration with Product and Design - Demonstrated knowledge of SDLC fundamentals - Ruby on Rails development experience, a plus Applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada as of the start date chosen by the Company. The national pay range for this role is $ $142,700 - $214,100 CAD. Individual compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and qualifications. Certain roles may be eligible for additional compensation, including stock option awards, bonuses, and merit increases.
