Application Security Engineer

• Partner with product teams during the design phase to lead threat modeling and risk assessments sessions, translating complex security threats into clear, actionable security requirements. • Perform in-depth manual code reviews on critical applications to identify complex logical vulnerabilities as part of white-box security assessment. • Plan, design, implement, automate and (if you wish) support AppSec tools. • Contribute to building a company-wide processes for secure code development and deployment. • Triage identified security vulnerabilities, provide clear and actionable descriptions and ensure these findings are properly addressed and mitigated. • Manage the bug bounty program, collaborate with researches and internal teams to resolve the discovered vulnerabilities. • Partner with Dev/QA teams throughout the development lifecycle to enhance the application's security posture by providing expert consulting, continuous knowledge sharing, and actionable security guidance.

Job Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in application security.
  • Knowledge of secure development processes and best practices.
  • Deep understanding of web application security mechanisms (i.e., how the web actually works? What is SOP and why do we need CORS? What is CSP?).
  • Deep understanding of common web application vulnerabilities (i.e., OWASP Top 10), and the most effective ways to prevent them.
  • Knowledge of secure system/application architecture and design principles.
  • Understanding of modern threats to high-performance web applications that is used by millions of users daily.
  • Understanding of modern authentication/authorisation patterns (OAuth, OIDC, JWT, etc.)
  • Practical hands-on expertise in identifying vulnerabilities through security assessment and secure code review, coupled with the ability to perform deep root-cause analysis to drive systemic fixes.
  • University degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Intermediate or higher English level.

Role Description Eaton’s Bussmann Division is currently seeking a Field Application Engineer. This is a remote position that will be based out of a home office in the Houston, TX area. Relocation assistance is not provided. The Field Application Engineer (FAE) creates and manages demand for Bussmann series products by driving and influencing specifications at the end customer, which includes consulting engineers, design-build contractors, electrical inspectors, and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Responsibilities include: - Influencing targeted state and local jurisdictions to adopt the latest version of the National Electrical Code (NEC). - Working with electrical inspectors to help enforce NEC and Underwriters Laboratories (UL) requirements. - Acting as the subject matter expert on overcurrent protection in the territory. - Developing appropriate materials, articles, presentations, and other training aids to achieve desired sales goals. Key Responsibilities: - Influence consulting engineers, design-build contractors, end users, OEMs, and electrical design engineers on the benefits of specifying and utilizing Bussmann series products. - Train and assist electrical inspectors on the benefits of enforcing NEC sections that are most beneficial for creating demand for Bussmann series products. - Assist UL inspectors on the benefits of enforcing portions of UL standards that are most beneficial for creating demand for Bussmann series products. - Train customers on the benefits and application of Bussmann series products related to the proper application per the National Electrical Code. - Influence NFPA, IEEE, IAEI, IBEW, NECA, and NJATC members and state/local electrical code members to vote for Division-friendly changes and proposals that create demand for Division products. - Develop specification-oriented sales materials, articles, and presentations as appropriate. - Identify gaps in the product offering and potential new products and applications. - Provide pre-sale and value-add post-sale support to OEMs on product applications. - Drive specifications at end users that “pull through” Bussmann series products at OEMs that support the end user. - Provide technical product training and updates to both internal and external customers. - Establish as the subject matter expert or the “go-to” resource on overcurrent protection in the territory. - Accumulate and foster technical knowledge to stay on the cutting edge of expertise. - Coordinate activities with the commercial sales team in the territory and be a strong collaborator.
