Segra
Location - Any Segra Office. Role Overview The Sales Engineer – Carrier Sales is an experienced, customer-facing technical sales professional supporting Carrier and Wholesale customers throughout the pre-sales lifecycle. This role partners closely with Carrier Sales teams to design, position, and deliver complex network solutions that align with customer requirements and business objectives. This is a remote position supporting Carrier Sales across our market footprint, with travel as needed for customer meetings and in-market engagements. The Sales Engineer acts as a trusted technical advisor to Carrier and Wholesale clients and serves as a key liaison between Sales, Engineering, Operations, and Project Management teams. Key Responsibilities • Provide pre-sales technical support to Carrier Sales teams and Wholesale customers across assigned markets • Engage directly with Carrier and Wholesale clients to identify network needs, validate technical requirements, and design scalable solutions • Design and present advanced telecommunications solutions including fiber-based services, wavelength transport, Ethernet, IP, and dark fiber. • Support complex sales opportunities including RFPs, RFIs, and large-scale carrier network builds • Prepare and deliver technical presentations, solution designs, diagrams, maps, and statements of work • Communicate technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders • Partner cross-functionally with Network Engineering, Operations, and Project Management teams • Mentor and provide guidance to other Sales Engineering team members • Support internal process improvement and sales enablement initiatives Required Experience • Minimum of 4 years of experience in telecommunications or a related technology field supporting pre-sales technical design • Experience supporting Carrier or Wholesale customers in a Carrier or Wholesale Sales Engineering environment • Background designing and supporting complex telecommunications and network solutions • Experience partnering with Sales teams to support revenue growth • Experience working with Outside Plant and Network Design Engineering teams, as well as post-sale Project Delivery teams. • Prior mentoring or leadership experience preferred Technical Skills & Knowledge • OSI model • Fiber optic network design • DWDM • MPLS • Metro Ethernet • Transport delivery • IP-based services • Experience creating network diagrams, topology drawings, and technical documentation • Proficiency with Visio, Google Earth, GIS tools, and Microsoft Office applications Education & Certifications • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Telecommunications, Engineering, MIS, or equivalent industry experience • Other telecommunications certifications such as CCNA, CCDA, CCNP, CCDP, MEF, or similar are preferred Additional Qualifications • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced sales environment • Strong collaboration and influence skills About Segra: Segra is one of the largest independent fiber network companies in the nation, able to offer state-of-the-art communication solutions backed by always-on customer service.
