Assistant General Counsel, Digital Assets
Circle
• Serve as lead legal partner to the Digital Assets Pillar, advising on product structure, issuance strategy, and legal risks. • Provide legal guidance on the issuance and platform integration of new digital assets and related platform features. • Partner with Product and Engineering to structure compliant asset custody and on-chain settlement frameworks. • Support legal considerations for emerging initiatives including pricing models, managed services, and multi-asset strategies. • Review and help draft internal policies, external disclosures, and terms of use related to asset issuance and distribution. • Act as a senior legal stakeholder in roadmap planning, identifying legal blockers early to support velocity and scalability.
Job Requirements
- JD or equivalent with active membership in at least one U.S. state bar
- 12+ years of legal experience, including significant time at both a top-tier law firm and as in-house counsel
- Deep experience advising fintech and/or crypto companies on product development and legal risk
- Demonstrated experience in launching novel financial or crypto products in complex, fast-paced environments
- Experience supporting asset issuance, custody, or smart contract design in Web3 or DeFi contexts
- Proven ability to partner cross-functionally with product, engineering, risk, and compliance teams
- Excellent judgment, pragmatism, and the ability to distill complex legal issues into actionable guidance.
