Infrastructure Engineer, Db2 Systems Programmer

Join us as an Infrastructure Engineer, Db2 Systems Programmer - You’ll engineer infrastructure technology for Database 2 (Db2), complying with security, resilience, sustainability, and operational requirements with observability and guardrails built in - You’ll also use automation to reduce toil in the operational team and reduce lead times - This is a chance to work with colleagues across the bank to share engineering best practices, allowing you to expand your network and gain exposure for you and your work What you'll do As an Infrastructure Engineer, Db2 Systems Programmer, you’ll work within a technical team in a challenging environment with many activities that run outside of normal office hours, providing on call support for Db2. As well as this you’ll be contributing to and managing the selection, creation and maintenance of technologies required to meet the needs of our customers, strategic targets and architecture outcomes, as well as ensuring controls and security are applied and constantly reviewed. We’ll look to you to collaborate with stakeholders to inform product roadmaps, detailing lifecycles of the technology from new products through to end of support and retirement. As well as this you'll build relationships with others in the wider Db2 team and across the whole of mainframe to deliver the solutions needed by our business and customers. You'll also provide support for Db2 and its associated vendor supplied products, along with a selection of other tools, some of which may operate independently of Db2. Additionally, you’ll: - Apply and deepen your existing technical expertise through continuous professional development, keeping pace with Db2 and mainframe technologies - Interact with IBM, Broadcom and other vendors of Db2 products to deliver best outcomes for the platform and our customers - Contribute to the planning and execution of work on and around Db2 and Db2 tools and the timely servicing of problems and issues in both production Db2 and test development - Contribute to the platform risk culture, making sure that risks are discussed and understood at every step, and effectively collaborating to mitigate risk - Generate innovative ideas and drive the delivery of those through product features The skills you'll need To thrive in this role, you’ll have strong working experience of Db2 and associated tools, in software development or automation scripting such as Python or Rexx. You’ll also have experience in utilizing modern infrastructure as code via tooling. We’ll expect you to quickly absorb the detailed specifics of our Db2 environment and operating model, applying your existing experience to deliver strong customer outcomes from the outset. Furthermore, you’ll need: - Working knowledge of Mainframe, such as JCL, SDSF and SQL - An understanding of mainframe risk and the ability to quickly manage risk across Db2 environments, from testing to production where issues may impact the banks customers - Experience of using observability tools and techniques and the ability to use data, information and user sentiment to continuously improve solutions - Experience of working with Db2 utilities - An understanding of Off host connectivity into Db2 and security Hours 35 Job Posting Closing Date: 03/04/2026 Ways of Working:Remote First
