Sr. Field Applications Engineer Department: Sales Location: Spain (Madrid) Spain (Remote) Position Summary The Sr. Applications Engineer is responsible for supporting the European Sales team and is responsible for actively driving and managing the technology evaluation stage of the sales process. Working in conjunction with the sales and engineering teams as the key technical advisor and product advocate, the Sr. Field Application Engineer must be able to identify and provide reliable solutions for all technical issues to assure complete customer satisfaction. The occupant of this role must evaluate customer technical requirements against approved Electrolyser solutions. If the needs of the customer cannot be met with the approved Electrolyser solutions, the Sr. Field Application Engineer will work with cross-functional teams to find a technical solution meeting customer needs. The ideal candidate for this role must have the ability to gain a firm technical grasp on Plug Power products and technical requirements while also possessing a robust interpersonal skill set enabling effective customer relations and leadership of project teams. Core Duties and Responsibilities - Maintain expert level technical knowledge of Plug Power products and solutions; most notably Electrolyser systems, Fuel Cell systems, Infrastructure and field applications. - Attend meetings with the sales team while lending help with the following: - Articulating Electrolyser systems, Fuel Cell systems, Infrastructure technology and product positioning to both business and technical users. - Listening, understanding and conveying customer requirements. - Assisting the sales team on all application recognition to provide the Fuel Cell systems, Infrastructure and electrolysers solutions as an option that will maximize the benefit for customers. - Help to calibrate expectations for product solution rollouts between customer stakeholders and PLUG project teams. - Respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs. - Assist in the development of technical solutions to address specific constraints for customer field applications. - Perform technical/ product training for sales people and customers. - Assist in the design and development of new solutions by gathering feedback related to customer needs and summarizing for customer; work cross-functionally to implement new solutions and new product offerings as the organization evolves. - Negotiate technical scope of contractual discussions with customers and internally to provide best results. - Set up internal teams for non-standard projects and be the interface between customers and engineering to provide project delivery. - Align technical requirements for handover to execution teams. - Perform all other duties as assigned. Education and Experience - Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering discipline such as electrical or mechanical engineering; Masters degree preferred - 7+ years of relevant work experience in an engineering capacity - Ability to travel up to 50% of the time - Experience within industrial markets (e.g. automotive, aeronautical, oil & gas) - Experience in any of the following spheres of activity is desired: - Hydrogen and/or fuel cells and/or Electrolyser - Industrial gas - Cryogenic Industry - High Pressure Systems (250 Bar and up) - Gas processing and/or dispensing equipment - Oil and Gas, CNG, LNG, etc. - Capabilities in all of the following areas are essential: - Computer and software systems skills as applicable to position including but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook. - Strong oral and written communications skills with an emphasis on technical writing - Strong mechanical aptitude and technical problem-solving skills - Uncompromising dedication to quality. - Dynamic interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences and stakeholders at all levels - Demonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detail. - Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task effectively. - Excellent follow-through. - Must be driven and self-motivated. - Teamwork oriented and focused. - Fluency in English and Spanish is essential, other languages are greatly appreciated Don’t meet every single requirement? Job Description Summary The Field Service Engineer (FSE) provides frontline support by resolving customers' concerns and issues through technical expertise and troubleshooting.
