Description and Requirements Role Value Proposition: The Director, Composite AI Platform (MetIQ) serves as the Technical Product Manager responsible for defining and driving the vision, strategy, and evolution of MetLife's Composite AI Platform. This role operates at the intersection of AI strategy, platform architecture, governance, and enterprise enablement, ensuring MetIQ delivers scalable, secure, and responsible AI capabilities aligned to business outcomes. This role partners closely with Architecture, CIO teams, Data & Analytics, Platform Engineering, Security, and Lines of Business to translate enterprise priorities into a cohesive platform strategy and roadmap, balancing near‑term delivery with long‑term system integrity, extensibility, and adoption. The role is accountable for product outcomes, not just delivery execution. Key Responsibilities: Product Strategy & Platform Vision: - Own the end‑to‑end product vision and strategy for MetIQ, aligning platform capabilities with Global Technology priorities and Responsible AI principles. - Define and evolve a capability‑based roadmap that balances enterprise demand, architectural guardrails, and long‑term platform sustainability. - Articulate the value proposition of MetIQ as a platform, including developer experience, time‑to‑value, and risk reduction. Technical Product Leadership: - Translate customer, partner, and business needs into clear technical problem statements, platform capabilities, and product requirements. - Partner with Architecture and Engineering leadership to evaluate design options, technical tradeoffs, and architectural decisions, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and extensible. - Incorporate non‑functional requirements (performance, resiliency, security, cost efficiency, observability) as first‑class product concerns. - Guide decisions on build vs. buy, reuse vs. customize, and platform standardization. Roadmap, Backlog & Delivery Alignment: - Own and maintain the MetIQ product roadmap, ensuring transparency of priorities, dependencies, and sequencing across stakeholders. - Translate roadmap objectives into well‑formed epics and outcomes‑oriented backlog items, in close partnership with engineering teams. - Lead prioritization and tradeoff discussions to maximize enterprise value while protecting platform health. - Coordinate with delivery teams to ensure alignment between strategic intent and execution, without assuming technical delivery ownership. Use Case Intake & Enablement: - Lead the demand intake and use‑case onboarding strategy, ensuring alignment to platform standards, architectural patterns, and Responsible AI requirements. - Define readiness criteria and onboarding pathways that enable consistent, scalable adoption across regions and lines of business. - Support a federated operating model by partnering with enablement and platform teams globally. Governance & Responsible AI Enablement: - Partner with governance, risk, legal, and compliance teams to ensure MetIQ enables compliance by design, not as an afterthought. - Ensure product capabilities support enterprise governance workflows while minimizing friction for delivery teams. - Embed Responsible AI principles into platform features, processes, and lifecycle decisions. Cross‑Functional & Executive Alignment: - Serve as the primary product interface across Architecture, Platform Engineering, Data & Analytics, CIO teams, and business leaders. - Synthesize technical, business, and risk considerations into clear narratives and recommendations for senior leadership. - Drive alignment on investments, sequencing, and success metrics. Adoption, Metrics & Continuous Improvement: - Define and track product and platform success metrics, including adoption, reliability, performance, cost efficiency, and developer experience. - Establish structured feedback loops to continuously refine platform capabilities and onboarding models. - Support operational readiness, including support models and lifecycle management, in partnership with engineering and operations teams. Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills: Required Skills: - 8+ years of experience leading enterprise-scale technology or platform products in large, matrixed organizations. - Demonstrated success as a Product Manager for technically complex products (platforms, data, AI, cloud, integration, or developer-facing products). - Proven ability to balance business value, technical feasibility, and long-term platform health. - Strong executive communication skills, with the ability to translate complexity into clarity. - Familiarity with Agile and product-oriented delivery models in enterprise environments. Preferred: - Strong technical fluency: able to reason about system design, APIs, data flows, and architectural tradeoffs (coding not required). - Experience working within governance, compliance, and risk-sensitive environments. - 3+ years of experience with AI platforms At MetLife, we're leading the global transformation of an industry we've long defined.
