Senior Commercial Counsel
Experian
• Find creative solutions that meet both Experian's and its clients' business and compliance needs. • Ensure that contracts comply with Experian policies and business practices, and regulatory requirements. • Coordinate with various stakeholders and subject matter experts, including information security, internal and regulatory compliance, sales, product marketing, corporate legal, and finance to help drive transactions to successful completion within the required time frame. • Maintain and enforce contracting policies, which will involve obtaining and documenting approvals for non-standard terms and pricing. • Assist sales teams with on-going administration of client contracts. • Advise management on contractual terms and risks. • Provide training to sales and other departments on contract issues and negotiation strategies.
Job Requirements
- JD from an accredited law school and active admission to a state bar.
- 4+ years of experience in an in‑house legal or contracts department.
- Experience supporting a large, complex business environment in support of a sales-focused organization, by partnering with business, technical teams, and senior leadership to deliver clear, actionable guidance on contract terms and business practices.
- Contract drafting skills with experience leading negotiations, balancing risk and opportunity, and maintaining professional, collaborative relationships—including leading client negotiation calls.
- Hands‑on experience negotiating key provisions such as Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, Warranties, Termination, Data Security, Data Privacy, and Confidentiality.
- Experience ensuring contract terms align with revenue recognition and accounting requirements for various services, including software and custom development.
