Job Description

Associate General Counsel

Orchard

• Act as a legal swiss-army knife across several different legal practice areas focusing on commercial and regulatory issues • Negotiate and structure complex commercial contracts, partnerships, and joint ventures • Work with real estate brokerage, mortgage, title, and closing services business lines to ensure compliance • Innovate and streamline service delivery maintaining compliance with state laws • Partner with Product & Engineering Teams for product design balancing innovation with legal risk • Engage with and build relationships with state regulators • Manage outside law firms while balancing cost and effectiveness • Lead development of Data Privacy and Information Security policies • Involvement in equity and debt financings, and strategic M&A transactions.

Job Requirements

  • Broad-based attorney with 7-12 years of experience in the commercial and/or regulatory space
  • Solid experience with commercial contracts, negotiating from a commercial perspective and reviewing from a regulatory perspective
  • Experience negotiating and structuring partnerships and joint ventures
  • Experience with Data Privacy regimes and implementation of the related policies and procedures
  • Experience with the laws and regulatory framework related to real estate brokerage and/or mortgage lending (optional)
  • Prior experience with a real estate brokerage or mortgage company (optional)
  • Experience navigating the application of evolving and sometimes overlapping regulations in a business context
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, sees ambiguity as opportunity
  • Ability to work independently with good judgment
  • Eager to collaborate across functional teams
  • Demonstrated drive for results, work ethic, meticulous attention to detail and planning skills.
  • State bar admission in good standing.
