Job Description
Senior UX Writer
Coinbase
Ready to be pushed beyond what you think you’re capable of? At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. It’s a massive, ambitious opportunity that demands the best of us, every day, as we build the emerging onchain platform — and with it, the future global financial system. To achieve our mission, we’re seeking a very specific candidate. We want someone who is passionate about our mission and who believes in the power of crypto and blockchain technology to update the financial system. We want someone who is eager to leave their mark on the world, who relishes the pressure and privilege of working with high caliber colleagues, and who actively seeks feedback to keep leveling up. We want someone who will run towards, not away from, solving the company’s hardest problems. Our work culture is intense and isn’t for everyone. But if you want to build the future alongside others who excel in their disciplines and expect the same from you, there’s no better place to be. While many roles at Coinbase are remote-first, we are not remote-only. In-person participation is required throughout the year. Team and company-wide offsites are held multiple times annually to foster collaboration, connection, and alignment. Attendance is expected and fully supported. We're hiring a Senior Content Designer to join the Design & Research team and shape how millions of users experience Coinbase through words. You'll lead in-product content design and UX writing for one of our product teams, partnering closely with product designers, product managers, researchers, and engineers to turn complex crypto concepts into simple, intuitive experiences. The crypto space — with its evolving terminology, protocols, and products — is a new universe you'll help define while building scalable content patterns that raise the bar across Coinbase. What You'll do: - Own end-to-end content design** for your product area, from early concept exploration through final UX copy, ensuring every user touchpoint is clear, consistent, and on-brand. - Partner cross-functionally** with product designers, PMs, researchers, and engineers to understand user and product needs, then translate those insights into in-product content and experiences that are simple and easy to understand. - Drive content strategy** for your product surface, contributing to content design strategy as well as producing and presenting final UX copy for our products. - Shape scalable content systems** by working closely with the content design and design systems teams to improve language across all surfaces, establish UX writing guidelines, and contribute reusable content components. - Lead through ambiguity** in a fast-moving environment where the crypto space — together with its terminology, protocols, tokens, and more — requires you to define new patterns and help users navigate unfamiliar concepts with confidence. What We look for in you: - 5+ years of experience producing user-focused, in-product writing through work in tech, digital agencies, or other relevant product areas. - Proven track record of owning content design end-to-end for complex product flows, with UX-focused writing samples and flows you can share with us. - Experience creating scalable content, including style guides, voice and tone documentation, or content component libraries. - Strong collaboration skills with demonstrated experience partnering closely with product designers, PMs, and engineers to ship user-facing experiences. - Exceptional communication skills with the ability to articulate content decisions, present work to stakeholders, and advocate for user-centered language. - Demonstrates the ability to responsibly use generative AI tools and copilots (e.g., LibreChat, Gemini, Glean) in daily workflows, continuously learn as tools evolve, and apply human-in-the-loop practices to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in efficiency, cost, and quality Nice to have's: - Interest in crypto, blockchain, or financial products. - Fluency in Figma and experience working within design systems. - Experience working with localization, translation, and/or international teams. Please be advised that each candidate may submit a maximum of four applications within any 30-day period. We encourage you to carefully evaluate how your skills and interests align with Coinbase's roles before applying. Commitment to Equal OpportunityCoinbase is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer. • Be the key driver of the Immersive One platform research strategy, unifying products, personas, and complex workflows. • Run mixed-method research at product pace: interviews, usability/task testing, concept and prototype evaluation, tree tests, card sorts, surveys, and longitudinal work when it’s the right tool. • Transform raw qualitative and quantitative data into high-impact, compelling strategic narratives that decisively influence roadmaps, prioritisation, and major investment decisions. • Bridge the gap between grand research vision and immediate execution, translating multi-quarter platform blueprints into actionable, high-impact outcomes. • Architect research frameworks, playbooks, and enablement practices that multiply research effectiveness and elevate organizational maturity. • Weave together research, analytics, user feedback, and market signals into cohesive strategic narratives • Establish a repeatable learning engine: intake/prioritisation, cadence (e.g. weekly/fortnightly testing), synthesis rituals, and an insight repository that’s easy to reuse. • Coach designers and PMs on lightweight research techniques and evidence-based decision making.
• Conduct systematic competitor and market research across SaaS, subscription, and freemium products — analyzing user flows, paywalls, onboarding funnels, and conversion patterns. • Mine quantitative data from analytics tools (Mixpanel, Microsoft Clarity, GrowthBook) to identify drop-off points, attention gaps, and underperforming screens. • Analyze heatmaps, session recordings, and attention data to surface CRO opportunities. • Deliver 10–15 experiment ideas per week, each scored using the ICE framework (Impact × Confidence × Ease) with a target threshold of 500+. • Write clear, testable hypotheses with defined success/failure criteria and primary metrics. • Create low-to-mid fidelity wireframes (AI Tools) to communicate test variants — clear enough for developers and stakeholders to act on. • Develop user personas, journey maps, and usability assessments specific to our funnel stages (Landing → Start → Quiz → Analyzing → Email Capture → Checkout). • Present insights and recommendations in twice-weekly Growth team brainstorming sessions. • Analyze post-test results and extract reusable patterns for the team's knowledge base. • Stay current on CRO, behavioral psychology, and SaaS conversion trends.
