Systems Engineer – Systems Design & Implementation

Motorola Solutions

• The Systems Engineer will be responsible for the public safety design and implementation of solutions for Motorola’s ASTRO 25 and adjacent technologies for State and Local government agencies • Design and implementation of the radio network including infrastructure, subscribers, mobile backhaul and WAN and CEN networks • High level of customer and consultant interaction involving customer design reviews, customer witnessed staging and acceptance testing events, coverage acceptance testing, live system upgrades, and troubleshooting efforts • System buildout, configuration and acceptance testing in both lab staging and field environments • Radio coverage testing, frequency analysis and interference mitigation • Radio system licensing (FCC/Industry) • Preparation of system fleet map, encryption and radio programming templates • Complete system documentation • Live system cutovers and upgrades

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering or technical discipline and 5+ years of engineering or technical experience OR 8 years of engineering or technical experience
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required
  • Radio Frequency Engineering principles
  • Land / Mobile Radio Engineering principles
  • RFDS principles to include antenna and cable selection, transmit combiners, receive multi-couplers, and lightning protection systems
  • Experience with Motorola ASTRO 25 architecture is a plus
  • Servers and related systems including VMware ESXI, Linux, and Microsoft operating systems
  • Knowledge of remote communication sites construction including site selection, grounding, compound development, tower and shelter requirements
  • Knowledge with point-to-point Microwave systems and Microwave RF & Network design
  • Certifications a plus through CompTIA Network+, Juniper JNCIA-Junos, Nokia NRS1, CCNA or similar a plus.
