Senior Manager, Power Markets - Transferrable Tax Credits
3Degrees
Every day, we work together for what matters – bold, swift, and equitable climate action. ABOUT THE ROLE As a Senior Manager on the Power Markets team, you will help accelerate 3Degrees’ expansion into the $55B transferable tax credit (TTC) market. Our Power Markets team has a strong reputation of delivering expert renewable energy strategy and implementation services, including advising clients on large, complex transactions such as power purchase agreements (PPAs) and biomethane purchase agreements (BPAs). This position will play an essential role in expanding 3Degrees’ TTC advisory services for corporate clients, which help finance utility-scale clean energy projects. You will serve as a primary subject matter expert on the various aspects of TTC transactions, combining your expertise with the team’s deep knowledge of renewable energy projects and energy markets in order to advise clients on the successful execution of tax credit deals. This is a high-impact role requiring a unique blend of tax accounting fluency and a client-facing consulting skillset. You will be responsible for moving potential advisory engagements from initial sales conversations to close (in conjunction with account executives on the Global Business Solutions (GBS) team) and then executing on those consulting engagements alongside Power Markets team members, all the while providing the technical credibility needed to satisfy corporate tax departments and their external advisors. This is a full time, exempt role reporting to the Senior Director, Power Markets. We value camaraderie, team collaboration, and the benefits of in-person connection, while offering flexibility. For this role, we prefer candidates to join us in a voluntary, flexible hybrid work style in one of our office hubs in San Francisco, CA; Portland, ME; or New York, NY. For exceptional remote candidates, we strongly prefer those located in states where we are currently eligible to hire: CA, OR, NY, WA, ME, TX, CO, MI, FL, MA, MN, VA, DC, GA, UT, and IL. While we prioritize candidates in, or open to relocating to, these states, we may consider outstanding remote candidates from other US states. Please note that hiring in a new state would involve evaluating the implications of establishing a new hiring presence there. Additionally, 3Degrees does not provide relocation assistance for this position. Please Note: 3Degrees does not provide sponsorship or work authorization assistance; therefore, pre-existing right-to-work status is a prerequisite to be considered for this position. WHAT YOU’LL DO - TTC advisory service ownership: Assume leadership of the TTC offering, expanding the service line with the full support of the Power Markets and Global Business Solutions (GBS) teams - Business development: Partner with account executives on the GBS team to pitch TTC solutions to corporate clients. You must be able to translate tax concepts into a compelling business case for C-suite and tax executives while also making it digestible by non-financial stakeholders - Client stakeholder engagement: Serve as a trusted advisor to our corporate clients, leading educational workshops that align a client’s internal teams—from tax to sustainability—around a shared vision of climate impact and financial efficiency. Act as the primary technical liaison to clients’ internal and external tax advisors, accounting teams, and legal counsel to ensure credibility and efficacy of 3Degrees’ advisory services - Strategic sourcing & developer relations: In conjunction with Power Markets team members, nurture meaningful relationships within the renewable energy ecosystem to ensure our clients have access to diverse, impactful TTC project options that are risk-mitigated and highly likely to reach commercial operation - Risk mitigation & quality assurance: Lead the evaluation of project-level risks, including "recapture" risk and qualification for bonus credits (e.g., domestic content, energy communities), ensuring that all credits presented to buyers meet rigorous standards - Contract negotiation: Play a leading role in the negotiation of Tax Credit Transfer Agreements (TCTAs), working closely with clients’ commercial, tax, accounting, and legal teams - Cross-functional collaboration: Work with various internal teams to architect hybrid product offerings that differentiate 3Degrees ABOUT YOU - Professional experience: 5–10+ years in finance, tax equity, investment banking, or specialized energy law. Specific experience in these areas related to renewable energy is certainly a bonus, but not required - Track record: You have a proven track record of closing transactions and advising clients along the way. Experience in tax equity or other transferable tax credit markets (even outside of renewables) is necessary - Tax accounting fluency: You possess deep, practical knowledge of tax credit transferability, as introduced in the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), and the U.S. Federal Tax Code, specifically Section 6418’s provisions. While a CPA is not strictly required, you must be able to build immediate technical trust with corporate accountants and tax advisors - The "consultative seller" mindset: You enjoy business development and are comfortable being the primary technical lead on sales calls - Communication: Exceptional ability to translate complex concepts into "c-suite ready" pitch materials and executive presentations - Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Engineering is required. Advanced degrees (JD, MBA, or Master’s in Taxation) or certifications (CPA/CFA) are strongly preferred HOW WE DEFINE SUCCESS Within 30 days, - Technical upskilling: Empower internal teams by sharing tax and accounting subject matter expertise in relation to TTC transactions, fostering a culture of shared knowledge and cross-departmental fluency - Sales & consulting materials review & development: Review and improve existing TTC collateral and develop new sales and consulting materials - Pipeline identification: Collaborate with account leads to identify clients where TTCs can deepen their decarbonization impact and strengthen their renewable energy portfolios - Business development: Participate in TTC sales calls with prospective clients, providing tax and accounting subject matter expertise Within 90 days, - Go-to-market strategy ownership: Finalize and gain leadership approval for a comprehensive TTC go-to-market plan, including refined value propositions for different corporate buyer personas (e.g., tax-heavy vs. sustainability-driven clients) - Pipeline velocity: In partnership with the GBS team, successfully advance at least three qualified prospects from the "Discovery" phase to the "Formal Proposal" or "LOI" stage, demonstrating the ability to overcome technical tax/accounting objections - Technical authority: Lead discovery calls and technical presentations as a primary subject matter expert, consistently achieving high "technical trust" ratings in internal sales debriefs - Competitive positioning: Complete a formal assessment of the TTC competitive landscape, delivering a differentiation guide that enables the sales team to articulate 3Degrees’ unique advantages in the market - Collateral refinement: Develop a set of "C-suite ready" educational materials specifically addressing risk mitigation (e.g., recapture and qualification audits) to streamline the client's internal approval process Within 6 months, - Sell TTC advisory engagements: Successfully execute TTC transaction consulting contracts for 3Degrees, establishing a repeatable end-to-end sales closing process Within 1 year, - Execute TTC transactions: Successfully close a TTC transaction for a client, earning a 3Degrees success fee and establishing a repeatable process for TTC advisory and securing deals on behalf of clients COMPENSATION & BENEFITS - Compensation: The minimum and maximum salary for this position is $124,913.00 to $169,000.00 in the US. About Fitt Fitt is a media-led platform operating at the center of health and wellness. Through content, talent, partnerships, services, and community, we help shape the companies, conversations, and people driving the industry forward. We’ve built trust, audience, access, and a growing set of complementary businesses. Now we’re focused on making the full platform work better together — with stronger coordination, faster execution, and more consistent follow-through across the business. The role We’re hiring a Head of Platform to help make Fitt run better. This is an operator-builder hybrid role for someone who can improve coordination, drive execution, and build the systems and workflows the platform needs as they go. You will work closely with Fitt’s executive team and sit at the center of the business. You’ll help connect priorities across business lines, push high-value initiatives forward, manage inbound opportunities, and bring more structure and follow-through to the platform. This is not a passive project management role. We’re not looking for someone to simply organize meetings, move tasks around, or wait for direction. We need someone who can absorb context quickly, make smart decisions, create structure where none exists, and run with important initiatives end to end. If a workflow is broken, you fix it. If a system is missing, you build it. If something important needs to move, you make it happen. What you’ll do Help run the platform - Work closely with the executive team to keep priorities aligned - Improve coordination across content, talent, AIIR, partnerships, and other platform initiatives - Create and manage the operating rhythms that keep the business moving - Track key priorities, decisions, and follow-through - Make sure important opportunities do not stall or fall through the cracks Drive cross-functional execution - Lead special projects and initiatives that span multiple parts of the business - Take ideas from discussion to execution without needing constant oversight - Step into ambiguous situations, create structure, and move work forward - Own timelines, deliverables, communication, and next steps across high-priority initiatives - Help leadership stay focused on what matters most Build systems and workflows - Identify where process, communication, or ownership is breaking down - Create practical systems that improve visibility, accountability, and execution - Build workflows that help momentum move across the platform - Improve how information, opportunities, and follow-up are shared across teams - Put lightweight structure in place without adding unnecessary complexity Manage inbound and opportunity flow - Review inbound opportunities, requests, intros, ideas, and partnership conversations - Assess fit, urgency, and strategic value - Filter what matters, redirect what doesn’t, and elevate the right things to leadership - Own follow-up and next steps when opportunities are worth pursuing - Act as a strong extension of the executive team in both internal and external communication Lead high-value initiatives - Lead the development and launch of Fitt Insider's digital and in-person community and membership program - Run with projects like events, partnerships, activations, launches, or new engagement efforts - Coordinate small and mid-sized events from concept through execution - Support partnership development and implementation - Help execute cross-platform campaigns and strategic moments - Take ownership where there is opportunity but no natural home Stay dialed into the industry - Stay close to the people, companies, and trends shaping health and wellness - Proactively identify emerging talent, rising executives, breakout companies, and high-value operators - Know when to reach out, build a relationship, or create a touchpoint before there is an immediate need - Help Fitt stay visible and relevant with the people who matter most - Surface new relationships, opportunities, and market signals to the executive team - Turn industry awareness into proactive outreach and action - Own and expand a recurring series of curated executive gatherings across health, wellness, and fitness What success looks like In this role, success looks like: - Better coordination across the platform - Faster execution on high-priority initiatives - Stronger follow-through internally and externally - More clarity around priorities, ownership, and next steps - Fewer distractions and less noise reaching the executive team - Better management of inbound opportunities - More momentum moving across business lines - Stronger visibility into what matters most - Leadership spending more time on strategic work and less time chasing details What we’re looking for You may be a fit if you are: - Highly organized and highly proactive - Action-oriented and comfortable moving quickly - Resourceful and calm under pressure - Comfortable with ambiguity and able to create structure where none exists - A strong communicator in writing and in person - Good at managing multiple priorities without losing momentum - Confident making decisions and owning outcomes - Polished with senior leaders, founders, executives, and partners - Someone who notices what is missing and builds it - Someone who cares about execution, not just ideas What we do not want This role is not for someone who is: - A passive coordinator - Only a project manager - Waiting for perfect direction before acting - Overly theoretical or process-heavy - More interested in planning than doing - Relying on pedigree instead of output We are looking for someone who takes initiative, moves with urgency, and gets things done. How you work You should be someone who: - Can sit in a high-level conversation and quickly understand what matters - Knows when to act, when to ask, and when to escalate - Can represent leadership well - Can toggle between strategic thinking and tactical execution - Can manage details without losing sight of the bigger picture - Is comfortable owning messy, undefined work - Has high standards and strong follow-through Why this role matters Fitt has built real trust, reach, and influence across health and wellness. The next phase is about turning that position into more coordinated execution and greater leverage across the platform. This role is central to that effort. You’ll help make the business more connected, more effective, and more capable of acting on the opportunities already in front of us.
