As the Accounting Manager at Catalight, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily accounting operations and financial reporting for a family of non-profit companies. This role involves managing key functions like accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and the month-end close process, while also leading a team of accountants. You'll play a vital role in ensuring compliance with financial standards such as GAAP and supporting the annual audit. Core Responsibilities & Essential Job Functions - Manage day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll entries, and general ledger maintenance. - Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules for month-end close. - Assist in the preparation of financial statements in compliance with GAAP and organizational policies. - Support the annual audit process by preparing documentation and responding to auditor requests. - Monitor compliance with internal controls and recommend process improvements. - Oversee grant-related accounting tasks and ensure compliance with reporting requirements. - Supervise a team of accountants or specialists, providing training, coaching, and performance feedback. - Collaborate with the Finance team on budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis. - Recommend process improvements and support financial system enhancements to improve accuracy and efficiency. Qualifications Minimum Education, Experience & Training Equivalent to: We believe that individuals with a diverse range of experiences may be well suited for this role. A master’s degree is required due to the scope and complexity of the responsibilities, and a CPA is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will bring substantial progress experience in accounting, a proven ability to lead complex financial functions and teams, and a background in healthcare financial management. Experience managing external audits and ensuring regulatory compliance is also essential. - Master’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required; Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation strongly preferred (CPA-eligible candidates also strongly preferred). - Strong knowledge of GAAP, nonprofit accounting, and healthcare compliance requirements. - Proficiency in accounting and reporting systems (e.g., Workday, NetSuite, Adaptive Planning, Power BI, Tableau, Excel). - Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage audits, and drive process improvement. - Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership abilities. Key Responsibilities: 1.
