The Sr. Director of Product Marketing is a senior leader responsible for defining and activating BlackLine's product marketing strategy across core platforms, solutions, and key initiatives. This role elevates Product Marketing as the voice of the product and the market, serving as a strategic partner to Product and GTM leadership while leading and developing a high-performing team. This position goes beyond traditional messaging and launches. It is a business-critical role that shapes product requirements, influences roadmaps, strengthens technical and competitive credibility, and orchestrates GTM alignment across Product, PreSales, Sales, Customer Success, and Marketing. Open to candidates in Los Angeles and Pleasanton You'll Get To: Product Strategy & Roadmap Partnership - Partner deeply with Product Management to shape product strategy, requirements, and roadmap priorities through market insight, customer validation, and competitive intelligence. - Act as a strategic sounding board for new product concepts, platform investments, and innovation themes. - Ensure product decisions are grounded in ICP needs, buyer personas, industry trends, and differentiated market opportunities. Product Marketing Leadership & Narrative Ownership - Own global product positioning, messaging frameworks, naming hierarchies, and value propositions across BlackLine's portfolio. - Elevate BlackLine's platform and AI-driven narrative with clarity, consistency, and differentiation. - Translate complex technical capabilities into clear, outcome-driven stories for multiple buyer audiences. GTM Activation & Commercialization Partnership - Work in close partnership with the Sr. Director of New Product Commercialization to support major launches, market moments, and innovation rollouts. - Lead ongoing GTM activation beyond launch-sales plays, solution narratives, customer stories, and expansion messaging. - Ensure strong alignment between roadmap evolution and field readiness. Competitive Intelligence & Market Insight - Partner closely with Competitive Intelligence leader to strengthen and operationalize competitive intelligence as a core strategic capability. - Ensure product marketers develop deep technical, product, and competitive expertise to increase credibility across Product, Sales, and Executive Leadership - Use data-driven insights to inform positioning, sales strategy, and investment priorities. Sales, PreSales & Customer Alignment - Partner closely with PreSales to incorporate real-world sales cycle insights, demo feedback, and solution gaps into product narratives. - Enable Sales and Customer Success with high-impact tools, storytelling, and proof points that drive confidence and win rates. - Champion customer stories, advocacy, and market validation across GTM motions. People Leadership & Organizational Impact - Lead, mentor, and scale a team of product marketers across platforms, solutions, and strategic initiatives. - Set clear goals, expectations, and success metrics tied to business outcomes-not just activities. - Continually elevate scope and value of Product Marketing from a services mindset to a strategic GTM leadership function. What You'll Bring: - Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field; MBA preferred. - 15+ years of experience in product management, product marketing, presales, strategy consulting or a related role in enterprise SaaS/technology. Experience in ERP, Enterprise Performance Management, Enterprise & Data Analytics and Business Intelligence highly preferred. - 7+ years in senior leadership roles managing and developing high-performing teams. - Proven experience partnering closely with Product Management to influence roadmaps and requirements. Track record of successfully launching products and enablement programs in a fast-paced, high growth environment. - Strong track record of defining product narratives and activating GTM strategies in complex, multi-product environments. - Experience working cross-functionally across Sales, PreSales, Customer Success, Enablement, and Executive Leadership. - World-class project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence across all levels of the organization. - Analytical mindset with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
