Our telehealth support solutions are thoughtfully designed to streamline and simplify go-to-market care delivery for companies offering meaningful virtual support to patients across an expansive array of specialties, in all 50 states. About the Role OpenLoop’s mission is to bring care anywhere by powering telehealth solutions at scale. The Head of External Communications will be the chief architect of our public narrative, ensuring OpenLoop is recognized as the essential infrastructure for the future of healthcare. This is a high-autonomy role designed for a seasoned PR expert who can operate as both a strategic counselor to the C-suite and a relentless executor of our media engine. You will be the primary point of contact for all outward-facing dialogue, possessing the mandate to shape our media presence, orchestrate our PR agency’s efforts, and safeguard our reputation during critical industry shifts. This position demands a rare mix of high-level narrative strategy and "in-the-trenches" execution. Reporting to our Chief Commercial Officer, you will have the creative and operational freedom to build a world-class communications arm that bridges the gap between technology and patient care at a national scale. What You'll Do - Define and defend the OpenLoop narrative, building a versatile messaging house that resonates with healthcare executives, policy makers, and the modern clinician. - Direct our external PR partners with total oversight, shifting them from reactive support to proactive growth drivers by setting high-bar objectives and tracking tangible reputational ROI. - Drive a high-velocity media relations engine, leveraging your personal "black book" of deep-rooted connections with healthcare, tech, and business journalists to secure category-defining coverage. - Serve as the definitive gatekeeper for all external press inquiries, ensuring every public touchpoint is deliberate, accurate, and aligned with our long-term objectives. - Lead the "Rapid Response" team as a sovereign authority during sensitive or high-pressure events, providing steady counsel to the board and crafting the communications that maintain market trust. - Empower our executive bench through comprehensive media coaching and the development of high-impact thought-leadership platforms that position our leaders as industry visionaries. - Monitor the pulse of the digital health sector, identifying emerging trends and regulatory movements that OpenLoop can, and should, influence. - Architect the future of the communications function, identifying the talent, budgets, and AI-driven tools needed to support our trajectory as we enter new markets. - Other duties as assigned. Who You Are - A PR powerhouse who doesn't wait for permission to pursue a story and understands that in healthcare, trust is the ultimate competitive advantage. - A master of nuance who can take the technical and legal aspects of telehealth and turn them into human, accessible stories that inspire confidence. - A high-stakes navigator who remains unfazed by complex media environments and knows exactly how to steer a conversation back to the core mission. - A systems-oriented leader who builds repeatable frameworks for communication rather than relying on one-off "viral" moments. - Deeply curious and autonomous, possessing the gravitas to advise senior leadership and the grit to lead the charge when a crisis or opportunity breaks at midnight. Required Qualifications - 10+ years of professional experience in corporate communications, public relations, or journalism, with a heavy emphasis on healthcare or highly regulated B2B tech. - Proven track record of autonomy, having previously built or significantly transformed a communications function within a high-growth environment. - Exceptional mastery of crisis and issues management, with documented experience protecting brands through periods of intense public or regulatory scrutiny. - Demonstrated success managing PR agencies as a sophisticated client, with a focus on accountability and performance-led outcomes. - Sophisticated writing and storytelling ability, capable of shifting tones between a technical whitepaper and a high-profile media interview for the CEO. Our Benefits In addition, for salaried positions you would also be eligible for: - Medical, Dental, and Vision plans - Flexible Spending/Health Savings Accounts - Flexible PTO - 401(k) + Company Match - Life Insurance, Pet insurance, and more Our Company We have a relatively flat organizational structure here at OpenLoop. Everyone is encouraged to bring ideas to the table and make things happen. This fits in well with our core values of Autonomy, Competence and Belonging, as we want everyone to feel empowered and supported to do their best work. Sound like a good fit? We’d love to meet you.
